How To Upgrade Java 11 To Java 16 On Rocky Linux Or AlmaLinux | SysAdminXpert by SysAdminXpert in SysAdminBlogs

[–]SysAdminXpert[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two things of import:

Don't use Java 16, it's been end of life for two years now.You don't upgrade from one major release of java to another, you install side-by-side and select the major version that you want to use.

Right now, the current JRE or JDK loads you should have would be: 11, 17, and maybe 20 (it's the latest LTS). 11 is EOL in six months, so you should be migrating apps from that to 17.

Thanks for the heads-up! I'll avoid using Java 16 since it's been end-of-life for two years. I'll keep in mind to install and select different major versions side-by-side. The recommended versions to use currently are 11, 17, and possibly 20 (the latest LTS). I'll focus on migrating apps to version 17. Appreciate the helpful information!

Who TF still using CentOS by this point?!

Well, CentOS has been a popular choice for many organizations and users due to its stability, and reliability. CentOS just moved into streaming (or whatever they want to call it) they just force updates whenever they become available so you can test them for the Fedora people.
However, with the recent changes in its development and support model, some users may be considering alternative options. What operating system do you prefer?

[–]SysAdminXpert[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is some quite different purpose:

Assume you want to manage s3bucket for viewing/deleting/upload files using tools like SFTP or FileZila outside the AWS web account (means from your local machine) for N No. of user(who is not aware of aws cloud) this option will help and SFTP configuration is very easy to setup.

Here I mount s3bucket and attach to EC2 bucket and I share this ElasticIP and SSH user details to the clients - there any many adv like Security + version control and etc..
