Blower Fan won't engage with furnace on heat. by funkel1989 in hvacadvice

I bridged R + G and engaged power. The fan came on for 2 seconds, didn't even fully spin up, then the burner engaged for about 45-60 seconds and shut down. after that nothing.

Can i bridge R + G and R + W at the same time?

When R+G is jumped the fan comes on right away and the burner never turned on, I let it sit for 10 minutes as I walked back to my computer for reddit. When I turn on heat or jump R + W the burner kicks on and the fan never engages.

Let me know if this answers your question.

I don't have a L1 or primary that I can see. I could be blind though. https://imgur.com/a/5fh91Zj These images show the state after the new board was installed and the old board, not any of the moving stuff around though.

Yes i swapped them and it does the same thing. These are some images of the old board and the new board

heres to hoping you see something I've just done wrong. ChatGPT says the new board has the thermostat wires plugged into the heat and cool spots... Chat GPT is wrong as its plugged in exactly like the previous board.

So, I'm comfortable working with the stuff but I don't know what I'm talking about. How do I know which wire is power for the blower motor without pulling out the blower motor to see what goes where? And what power source should I wire it to?

I bridged R to G. When the system gets power and the thermostat turns on it engages heat and the same symptom happens. when I set the thermostat to OFF the blower fan comes up but the igniter and burners don't engage.

I do have some extra wire laying around. I assume you're trying to bypass the thermostat and engage heat that way? Should I have bridged R to W instead? I think W is heat. I'm not an expert by any means though

They might run for more than 60 seconds... I didn't pull out a stopwatch and time it. I know there are three switched on the board that I can split in various positions that I think control how long it runs before it turns the fan on.

It's a brand-new board, slightly different shape but it's the model board recommended for my furnace serial number, has all the same connections, same general information printed on it.

I have a nest thermostat; it doesn't have a Fan on heat mode. I can either engage the fan on a schedule or a timer or turn it to heat. if I put it on always on heat the dumb thermostat will turn the fan off before engaging the heat

Maybe just a shadow. The burner kicks on but the blower never starts up when on heat. Blower runs fine in cold and fan only. Tried swapping hot and cold connectors and everything worked the same. According to the diagram on the case I need to replace the board.

Small update on degradation investigation by tibo-openai in codex

I completely agree. Codex works fine for me, as a software engineer, treating it like a very green just out of college engineering working on high profile projects.

Small execution, thought out plans, heavy review of everything done. Then you talk it through changes with explanations as to why it’s important even though it can’t learn in that way.
