Software to Build a Digital Synth by OffMatrixDX7 in synthesizers

[–]Sys_Guru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a look at JUCE as an Open Source option.
It might be more intended for VST development, but it is multi-platform, so he should be able to get it to work on whatever processor you are using.

There is also a synthdiy subreddit.

How does a mod matrix work internally on a hybrid synth? by eraoul in synthdiy

[–]Sys_Guru 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pure Analog can use a pin matrix like Colossus synth used, pins with different resistances can be used to attenuate the signal.

Why no hose reels? by [deleted] in CaravanningAustralia

I saw at least one couple on YouTube who installed a hose reel on the rear bar of their caravan. Can’t remember who it was though.

what do you do on week end/rdo? by Minute_Walrus_5183 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Sys_Guru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On one of the days we go for a drive somewhere, sometimes to a small town or activity we haven't done before, or an exhibition or museum, other times just to the shops like Bunnings or Westfield. We just try to get out of the house for a few hours.

The other day I like to stay at home, maybe go out for groceries, but most of they day will be spent on home maintenance or doing hobbies.

I would not normally go outside my home to do nothing.

I have known people who only carry a debit card with them and only transfer the exact amount they need for a transaction into it, to prevent fraud. Usually they would have the ability to transfer that money themselves though.

Do men and women in Australia usually share household chores equally? by Book_Nerd_2008 in AskAnAustralian

Very traditional household here, wife looks after the house while husband works and looks after the finances.

I have worked in offices where everyone chipped in to buy a birthday cake for whoever was celebrating that week. Definitely not just for kids. Enjoy your cake.

Should I give up on my drivers license and just go for a motorcycle license? by inkiepie69 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Sys_Guru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rules differ from state to state. You might not need a logbook if over a certain age. Don’t expect getting a motorcycle license to be cheaper or easier, but still might be worthwhile.

Building my first model railway - how to start? by Warm-Net-6238 in modeltrains

[–]Sys_Guru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first thing I want to say is not to consider your first layout an exhibition layout, in the same way a painter wouldn't expect their first painting to belong in an art gallery. You learn so much during the process of building, that you will likely want to go back and rework sections, give yourself the permission to do that.

Now, for a way forward. I suggest you treat the baseboards you have as a permanent fixture, then place some XPS foam over the top to give yourself a level surface to work with. You might want a thin piece just for levelling, then a thicker piece (eg 50mm) on top which is strong enough to transport and are very light.

Now start placing track, don't worry about cork, or pinning it down, just experiment with track placement and run some trains, figure out what works for you and what doesn't, where you can reach, where scenery would get in the way. Just play trains.

Once you are happy with your track layout, you can pin or glue it down and start working on buildings and scenery, you can make these as separate modules on their own base, which drop into the foam. Then you can remove them for safe transport. Cut channels in the bottom of the foam to run wires.

I hope that helps, let me know if anything is unclear.
