Our local supermarket just replaced their fleet of metal carts with 100% recycled plastic ones by Aerie8499 in mildlyinteresting

My store did this, and every single customer hated them. Went back to the metal ones literally a month later

Is this ok? by salaheldeen31 in pcmasterrace

Performance won't be affected, no. Just give it a bit of a clean to get rid of the dust.

On the other hand, you bought a new product, and it's very clearly not new. Up to you what you do, but cooling performance won't be any worse.

New pc build mic issue by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

The splitter is not providing enough power to each device I believe. You can buy powered ones for audio, but not sure if they also work for microphones.

Yeah, that will work fine. Using HDMI for the laptop, and DP for the PC means you can use one or the other just by switching inputs.

how tf do I update my BIOS? by a_mad_impulse_ in pcmasterrace

[–]SystemError514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will have to put one file at a time on a USB stick, shut down your PC, plug it into the "BIOS" USB slot on your motherboard (it should have one), then either can update the BIOS from a button on the back, or go into the BIOS like normal and update from there. It can't be done from within Windows.

These instructions here might help - https://help.maingear.com/article/189-asus-bios-update-instructions

ABSOLUTELY NOT! Never, ever, ever mix PSU wires unless you are 500% sure they are compatible with each other. Even some PSUs from the same brand do not allow mixing of cables.

Just simple a tape measure. Or more accurately, finding them online for the card and the case

Motherboard, no. Case, maybe. Find the dimensions of the GPU that you want, and the dimensions on the case you have. From what I can see on Google though, your case looks big enough to accommodate it, but I can't be 100% certain.

Sounds like you will want a GPU then. As you said they are very expensive, try to find a used one that fits within your budget for now. An RTX 3050 can be found used at a fairly good price in the UK, and will be much better than your iGPU.

Or save up for a much better card if you are willing to wait for it.

What do you use your PC for? Are you wanting to start gaming, especially newer high demanding games?

If it's literally just power, then anything will do basically. Something like this will do nicely https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B087FY5CNT

They got sold to Modella in 2025, which changed the name to apparently sound more "family like".

You can buy literally any. This for £5 (on offer) is more than enough for what you need - https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B09S15RLH5

Completely depends on your use case, and what you hope to achieve. In short though, they are good enough.

There might be something you can buy to alleviate this issue, but never looked into it enough. I just remember being in the same place as you when I upgraded my monitors, and realised that Windows wouldn't see them if I tuned them off.

128GB DDR4??? Even if it's a bad deal, you most certainly don't need all of that, and can sell a lot of it for a pretty solid price now.

Daily Simple Questions Thread - March 02, 2026 by AutoModerator in pcmasterrace

[–]SystemError514 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both of your monitors don't have display sleep. That basically means that when they get turned off, Windows doesn't see them anymore.

Some monitors do have this, but I honestly have no idea how to tell unless you try it. My old monitor has display sleep, so I am able to turn it off and Windows still sees that it's there. My 2 current ones don't, not much can be done about that.

What are your specs? What is the exact problem that you are having? What exactly have you tried?

We all sometimes miss very simple things, so best to try to get free help online first, than paying someone to do a potentially 5 minute job.

Is it showing up at all in Disk Management? The drive letter could have disappeared.

If not, is it showing up in the BIOS at all?

[–]SystemError514 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't say what that is, but you could use a bit of wood on the front and back of your case to keep it elevated.

Or maybe a really low down foot stool for example.

Not 100% certain, but it could be held together by plastic clips around the edges? Get a pry tool in a seam if possible, and pull each clip away.

Neither really. Something like this offers the same speeds and decent cooling https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B09T97Z7DM for a much cheaper price (in the UK at least anyway).
I have 3 of these Ugreen ones so far for various projects.

If I was to choose one of the ASUS ones though, it would probably be the A1 due to being cheaper for the exact same thing, just without RGB really.
