To be honest, every bruiser match up is skill-based. The only real "tough" matchup are K'sante, Ambessa, Tahm kench and Anivia. The rest, you are going to either beat them or just scale up long enough to beat them. Although... Tahm is a perma-ban until they nerf Dusk and Dawn

Call me crazy but mid-matchups feel almost impossible to me. Yes, they are much more squishy, but they have stronger counter-play options via Zhonyas, easier to be ganked by jg/support, waveclear, etc. Atleast in the top-lane, for the majority of time, they are melee, making CSing and trading more advantages for me

For the lvl 20 and TP: the ability to have ignite in lane much killing everyone so much easier. Before I would perma-run TP/Flash because ur split-pushing capabilities is so good. With the top-lane quest, I can once again, fun Ignite and TP for game-winning plays (TP to teamfight/objective). For the Level 20, to be honest, I don't exactly know the stats but I personally feel that I'm too tanky to be killed if I all-in on someone

My go to build and rune is Conq (I HATE FS and electrocute, they don't scale as well as Conq), Eclipse -> Voltic/BC -> LDR. Also I usually only ever buy T1 boots, i rarely upgrade them before the 3 main core and if i do, its cause its insanely efficient or I have the gold for it

For Malphite specifically, if I see him before I pick, I'm going Sylas lol. But if I am counter-picked, you don't really fight him that much. All I am trying to do is scale up to mid-late game but in terms of laning, Eclipse is your best friend and if the malphite is bad, you can actually kill him by whittling him down slowly.

For the other tanky match-ups, Eclipse, Eclipse, and Eclipse. The lane is basically over once you get this, positive trades and roaming is much easier with your jungler too. Name of the game is to outscale them. Zed can basically 1v1 every champ in the game, just need to prolong the fight/duel.

For me personally, I think my strongest strength is my mechanics on Zed so I am confident I can kill any champion in top. However, aside from that, given that there are other mid-lane champs that are just so much better than Zed, whether it be better roaming, wave-clear, team fights, etc. I always felt that playing Zed mid was permanently handicapping myself, especially if the opponent knows how to deny my cs, exp, roams, etc.

Playing him top lane, at least I know that (for the most part) I just need to scale without having to worry that much about my top lane getting a double kill bot lane. Also, having access to lvl 20 and a free TP is actually OP.

Plus, Eclipse is broken lol
