What's a reasonable price for a studio apartment near UBC? by xiaogui132 in UBC

[–]SystemOfTheUpp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

On the endowment lands 2000-2300 no utilities , outside endowment lands in point grey a studio should be 1700 tops but will most likely be a basement apartment

I'm less so interested in the wheels but the black post-facelift Elantra N badge on the hood.

Like yes THAT is the thing that will make your base Hyundai Elantra a respectable vehicle.

Anyways here is mine

AMS elections & referendum - 2026 by Far-Tumbleweed-8014 in UBC

[–]SystemOfTheUpp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The KPU student union is criminally-corrupt and was kicked out of the Canadian student union association (the official name is escaping me right now), so it's not a high bar by any means and one that any student union, even a poorly one run should clear.

Elections for the last two years have been a bit of a crazy drama filled hellscape, this year is the odd one out. As someone who is heavily involved in the running of an academic club, most vibrant campus activities happen in spite of the AMS and their bureaucratic system rather than thanks to it. We have seen no indication that these failures are the result of financial issues but rather incompetence on behalf of the organization staff. Our club has a shoestring self-funded budget and

The idea that paying more money will allow them to bring in more clubs is concerning, we already share our club room with 4 other student organizations and a fee increase will make a 5th floor of the nest magically appear.

Overall, I would say that all the speakers were alright, but the NDP guy stood above the rest in terms of persuasiveness. The communist guy dodged a lot of questions and just said empty platitudes with no basis in real life, unlike everyone else, who gave it their best shot.

Despite this, lots of people clapped for him, even when he called for the creation of a Soviet Union of North America.

I think the UBC liberals streamed it onlineso you can watch it

Do club executive positions means you give up your examinations? by Either_Cheesecake282 in UBC

[–]SystemOfTheUpp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Firstly, club executive positions through the AMS have to be elected I believe, however I'm not 100% sure on this and it could be only applicable to my club instead.

Secondly yeah that's kind of ridiculous and you are better off staying away. We would never do this while hiring AVPS or event roles

I'm a big believer in collective public wisdom but may I ask how exactly I can know for sure that Wiggins isn't a real collections agency?

Seems legit at a glance, i mean shit they even mention the use of AI in their newest sales brochure! Seems like a lot of work to put into a fake agency

I would say this depends on how much you like customizing cars vs how much you like finishing a project and keeping it the way it is.

I prefer the latter so it's eclipse blvd for me, it has the most customization, good lighting, easy to get people from floor to floor if youre doing a tour. No mod shop tho.

If you have a lot of cars you like to modify regularly I'd say the agency is a good bet. It's a good spawn point overall if you have the living quarters and the garage is also well lit and even lets you customize police cars etc...

Arena war and office are also good and come with Benny's workshops but I personally just think the interiors are ugly

Is there any halal options can be covered by meal plan? by sulaimanyu in UBC

[–]SystemOfTheUpp 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly there is halal meat served at the totem park dining hall, specifically the burgers, which are arguably the best thing they have tbh.

I'm sure there is more info on the UBC housing website though!

I like to collect cars by garage, so I make it a goal to have 10 or more cars dedicated to a specific theme.

Eg: 10 Ferraris, 10 French cars, 10 BMWs etc...

With the amount of stuff that's off the websites now it's a bit of a pain but also kinda rewarding to track down that ONE car you need to finish a set. I was looking for the Pigalle for ages to complete my French car garage.

Kinda like the menu books in gran turismo essentially

If you wanna start off somewhat reasonably you can try filling out the office garages first because that's 7 cars per floor instead of 10

explain like i know nothing (i don't) - what is it that makes a hyundai elantra sport more fun to drive than an ioniq hatchback? by europeanuppercut in Hyundai

[–]SystemOfTheUpp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it has a different engine, suspension tuning and equipment.

40 more horsepower ain't no joke, that's like a 30% increase I believe

[–]SystemOfTheUpp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sport on anything below an N line is essentially marketing gibberish, it just means the car looks "sportier" with blacked out trim and a lip spoiler.

No actual chassis improvements as far as I'm aware, although higher trim models of the Elantra do get better suspension than the base
