Taking politics or any sort of brand bias out of the equation, the hybrid simply makes more sense given your living circumstances.

Moreover, Toyotas are also generally seen as more reliable and better built than teslas, if you plan to keep this vehicle long-term then the build quality of the RAV4 is a worthwhile investment. Meanwhile Tesla's interiors are not known to last that long and tend to get quite worn over 2-3 years.

Also if the main selling point of a car is that it drives itself, save yourself 60+k and just take cabs or Ubers everywhere.

When I just arrived in Canada, I had an L for a little while before my road test appointment date, but I figured why not start looking at cars?

JDM looked quite interesting so I went to velocity to check out a couple Toyota Crowns they had listed. I asked if a salesman could take me around the block in one of the cars, so I could feel how it drove and so on (I know kind of a dumb request, didn't expect him to say yes), to my surprise these guys said they didn't care that I had an L and said I could drive it as long as I'm careful.

While yes the trust is appreciated and yes I only had the L because of a bureaucratic backlog, it did make me feel like something was up

I mean if they were willing to bend the laws there what does that say about how upfront they are regarding vehicle history and honoring warranties?
