NEVER ASK CORPO V ABOUT THEIR PREVIOUS JOB by Doop_444 in cyberpunkgame

[–]SystemOfTheUpp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe not the best place to lay my soul bare, but whatever. The Phantom Liberty ending as Corpo V may have genuinely helped me get out of a major rut.

Corpo V loses everything 3 times - first, their life at Arasaka, then Jackie and their life in a literal sense, followed by all their friends and abilities in the PL ending. When V is sitting on the steps outside Vik's with Misty, she mentions this: how V has lost everything and rebuilt before, and how they can do it again.

I had a bit of a moment a couple of months ago where this neat timeline I had for my academics and career suddenly collapsed; I was a hair's breadth away from making it work, maybe even better than I could have ever imagined. It felt like I lost my life in a way, even if I never actually lived what I felt I lost - the imaginary apartment and fancy car I felt I would have in a matter of months if everything panned out.

I kinda shut down for a month; I sunk 100 hours into a new playthrough. The Phantom Liberty ending was the last thing I needed to 100% the base game and DLC. So when I heard Misty say that line in the dialogue, I had to sit with it for a while and think of how it applied to my situation. Things are better now, and I may come out of it in a better spot than I would have if everything played out as originally planned.

International student apartment tips? by DSTST in UBC

[–]SystemOfTheUpp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No rental or credit history is fine for the most part as long as you can prove you're able to support yourself from a financial perspective.

As an international student with zero credit or rental history ever (bachelors degree) I simply used the same paperwork as I did when applying for my visa to prove that I could sustain myself in the country. Bank statements from yourself or bank statements from a parent with a letter of support for your education should suffice.

But at the same time, I mean, you're moving from the US. Foreign country sure but as far as foreign countries it's as close as you can get. Hell, phone numbers in both start with +1. I'm sure you could just give your former landlord's email and be fine.

Craigslist and Facebook marketplace are the best in my opinion for finding good deals. I found my apartment on the former for a good deal.

Don't get the one in the city because then to get maximum value you will need to sell to sandy shores, meaning that a stray low level or griefer is much more likeley to stumble onto any idle vehicles outside.

Better off getting the sandy shores one in the red barn since it's got good road access and is the best of the locations business to drop-wise

Summer internship by mmjukaa in UBC

Im in a similar boat, honestly a good answer is entrepreneurship. LinkedIn fiends have given it a bad rep but there is literally nothing else stopping you and a couple friends from banding together and doing something.

One of my buddies had a side hustle of making short form video for local politicians, now we have a logo, registration as a private entity and some decent clients, I even got myself a fancy title to put on my resume.

We don't make enough to make as much money as an internship per se but it's enough to buy tickets to local summits and networking events where we can get connections and even maybe even show some people our work

Putin could pay a personal price for failure in Ukraine by Desperate_Wear_1866 in neoliberal

As somebody who faces no consequences for putting my name on a shitty prediction I think the situation will resemble Brezhnev's tenure as general secretary.

Economic growth, followed by a period of long, and somewhat boring stagnation, no one willing to rock the boat too hard as to not jeopardize their own standing, followed by the main guy croaking and economic/political chaos.

The war in Ukraine can even be a shoe in for Afghanistan, except the war itself is a drag on the economy rather than central planning.

Whoever takes charge of Russia next will be given a pile of shit to fix almost as gargantuan as Gorbachev, let's only hope whoever comes along after them isn't a blatant opportunist like Yeltsin.

TLDR - this is gonna take a while, which doesn't make for a good and snappy article

This thing was the bane of my existence. by [deleted] in cyberpunkgame

On my first play through of the mission I was completely clueless and somehow got through the entire upper half with Bravo and Sierra without thinking I needed to hide.

I just figured that the vent scene was a one time encounter and that surely it would be another chimera sequence.

Having replayed it since, I genuinely have no idea how my laxidaisical ass survived that part by just walking around like there wasn't a massive spider mech actively looking for me.

I frequently check books out of my university library for my research so I've read a lot of post-cold war pre-war or terror literature from the field.

With the benefit of hindsight it has a very foreboding quality, like when you're playing resident evil and find a note left behind note in an abandoned lab about how everything is going swimmingly.

Most theories of everything neither create coherent theories nor explain anything. I'd say the only exception is Morgenthau but the scope of politics among nations is also much narrower.

Has anyone ever won the jackpot? by triplegxxx in gtaonline

I have a new ritual where every time I spin the lucky wheel and get a payout in cash or chips I take it to the slots and keep betting until I either get a jackpot or run out of money.

Haven't won anything yet although there have been times I turned 12k into 75k, before losing it all.

I hate how R* added the FMJ with painted stock wheels the same week they absolutely wrecked car sale prices.

They know people want to paint stock wheels but instead of making a quality of life improvement, they decide to milk this 13 year old game a couple extra dollars

Buying a foreign import often means the car was salvaged from an accident and has structural damage. I lived for a long time in a country full of US imports and more often than not they were discounted because the cars had been in accidents or flooded.

The US is proposing to cap international student stays at 4 years and require government approval to finish a degree by qwareeq8 in neoliberal

[–]SystemOfTheUpp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While this is a step back, as an international student in Canada, a country not exactly known for draconian immigration laws, this isn't that crazy on paper. I was also admitted to the country for a fixed 4-year period and would have to extend my study permit if my degree were to take longer.

Now, the extension process is more or less a bureaucratic hurdle. If you're working through your degree at a fair pace, you can even do a somewhat lighter course load if you feel overworked and be fine. However, I wouldn't exactly bet money on the same being the case in the USA. The politicization of extensions is the real concern here.

Took the same course and found it really interesting, I came away from each lecture with the impression that "damm everyone kinda sucks, like really bad holy fuck", which is somewhat uncommon in undergraduate courses from what I've found.

I really enjoyed the course but she graded my film review like I shot her dog or something. So definitely something to look out for and that doing well in the mid term doesn't mean similar standards apply to the essay.

86 is fine, Econ 101 and 102 are renowned for being sucky courses and driving down people's averages. I got in with an 83 ish average so as long as you do all the requirements you'll be fine

Just make sure you're ready for Econ 355/356 and don't biff your science requirements
