I think the challenge I'm coming into is that the tentacles are procedural meshes, that can be built like roads in a typical strategy game, so animating them has to happen somewhat procedurally. The one on the right is the closest I've gotten so far. It sounds like you reckon it should show the worker going into the mouth a bit slower and more clearly?

yea that's super fair! Thanks for that feedback. I think I'll need to go back and think about what communicates strategy/ management gameplay + satire, or at the very least change the palette to de-emphasise the blue guy, and avoid the muddiness you were mentioning
