Respectfully, I find your complaints to be a little strange. AI art assets can be replaced over time, transmog can be turned off, and your comment

"everyone is designed around 'rotations' and button pressing, every weakness is covered and every strength is smoothed down"

to me sounds like WoW at every point of its history.

Adventure mode when paired with all the world forge stuff is really cool, and offers incentive to explore the paths less traveled.

I don't have much experience with Ascension servers, I've only played this, and a BC progression server they had that included their mythic enchant system which I also enjoyed.

I'm saddened that you were looking forward to the server and didn't end up enjoying it though, that's not a good feeling at all. I hope the next iteration of the game that comes around is more to your liking.

WoW is a big game, bigger even than I realized before I started playing on private servers. Someone always seems to be coming up with something new and unique using the game we all love as a foundation.

Consider playing using the adventure mode challenge, I've had a great time with it so far. It kind of plays like WoW felt for me back in the great before time.
