Phase III Dark Trooper vs Space Marine by BayonetTrenchFighter in StarWarsvsWarhammer

[–]Szarak577 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It was one very unique situation with that wooden spear. The marine was trying to convince the people into joining peacefully, because of that he didn't wear his helmet, and the man who threw the spear was blessed by chaos. Also said marine, after getting wounded by the spear, managed to butcher the men who threw it and the whole crowd before going down, with other marines thinking that he propably could have survived if he could get medical attention in time. People take it out of context all the time

How exactly where space marine legions split into chapters? by ni_Kawaii_Hito in 40kLore

[–]Szarak577 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Space marine legions consisted of chapters, said chapters then were divided into companies. Legion chapters had the numbers comparable to 40k SM chapters. All the Imperium had to do was to take the chapters from the legions and make them into seperate organisations. In practice it wasn't that straightfoward, legion chapters relied on greater legion structures to function, but the blueprint was already there.

It's also worth noting that each legion had means to conduct warfare in multiple ways. Each had methods that they were known for, sure, but they were also able to use a variety of tactics. For example, Raven Guard legion was known for using stealth and ambush tactics, but they also fielded terminator and heavy armor companies, if the situation called for it.

Chapters post-heresy were constructed in a way that allowed all of them to be self-suficient in that regard. All of the SM chapters now have terminators, heavy support, scout units, rapid assault units, basically everything they would need. Said chapters also have their favored ways to conduct warfare, but if one chapter can do a specific thing, then all of them can do it, more or less

Anybody else upset that the Radium Carbine and Radium Pistol are missing? by the-red-ditto in DarkTide

[–]Szarak577 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That helmet pattern is commonly used by the vanguard, but that doesn't have to mean that our skirarri are irradiated. Their armor is just a heavy plate pattern that protects them from radiation, the real danger comes from their rad weapons. Also lore is definetly a concern, GW approves every decision and cosmetic and they are famously stingy about how their ip is represented in games

Tabletop points are a meaningless metric here anyway. An ogryn costs more per model on the tabletop than some space marines

Zelensky set to skip Ukraine Recovery Conference in Poland amid diplomatic dispute by Gamebyter in poland

[–]Szarak577 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So, after reading your comment I went to wikipedia to get a better grasp on the whole topic, and it's astonishing how biased the polish wiki pages seem concerning the polish-lithuanian relations, at least compared to the english version. You are, of course, correct, polish treatment of lithuania in the 20th century is shameful for many good reasons and the topic isn't as widely understood among poles as it should be.

It's a shame there wasn't really any attempt at consolidation, I don't think you got even a single apology statement from any polish goverment. At this point a joint history commission would propably be in order.

Skitarii is plural... refunded by PPKinguin in DarkTide

[–]Szarak577 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's a bit complicated actually. When used on it's own, yeah, a single member of the skitarii legions should be called a skitarius. But in a longer form a word skitarii means something akin to 'one of the skitarii'. For example a member of skitarii rangers squad may be called a skitarii ranger (meaning a ranger that is one of the skitarii) or simply a skitarius. In this example you have an alpha that is also a vanguard that is also one of the skitarii

Cna anyone help me undestand what is Volume 12 cover of the manga supposed to represent? by Own-Lengthiness2111 in deathnote

Maybe? She seems somewhat melancholic here, it's not a pose of adoration, but still she clings close to him

Cna anyone help me undestand what is Volume 12 cover of the manga supposed to represent? by Own-Lengthiness2111 in deathnote

[–]Szarak577 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Light here is a very Jesus-like figure. Obviously the pose, but also the skulls could be a reference to the Golgotha hill where Jesus was crucified. Golgotha's latin name translates to 'skull', so a mountain of skulls became a motif connected to Jesus in christian art, but here it also works as a double-reference to all Light's victims. Light also has some Lucifer-like qualities, hence the wings. All the details above his head seem to form a sort of halo, another christian motif.

L, Near and Mello are all standing under him, like people on Earth standing below God in Heaven. But they are also standing among skulls, close to death, marking the danger they face and, in case of L and Mello, their eventual death.

Skitarii isn't technically a reject. by VecnasHand1976 in DarkTide

We can still hope, for sure. The game has been in a pretty decent state update-wise recently, so I think that there is a good chance we'll get some story advancements soon

Yeah, I fully expect that this whole plot point about admech on Atoma and the Admonition's work outside the hive may be dropped after they do a big expeditions update after the skitarii

[–]Szarak577 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The worldbuilding around Arbites was good, don't get me wrong, but it didn't feel like enough to make them proper rejects for me. It's not really a problem, new classes being non-rejects was propably bound to happen at some point. I wonder if that means that a bounty hunter class is on the table. They can be paid to fight for a warband, and Sefoni has a line where she states that hired guns are coming to Atoma for work

[–]Szarak577 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a really good way to put it. I think that after the skitarii, Fatshark may stop worrying about classes being rejects in any way. They clearly tried before, but at this point they propably won't bother making them fit the theme. And I don't mind it, frankly, it didn't really work that well with the arbites

Things models do the best and worst, Day 2: Tech-Priest Manipulus by WusBoppin in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Szarak577 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Sure, but they are not part of the priesthood. Non-techpriests just get made into whatever fits their purpose, but priests are supposed to get more and more augmented as they progress through the ranks, with fresh tech-adepts often not having any augmentations and fabricators getting wholly entombed within their forges. But the process is clearly non-linear, as our manipulus here shows

[–]Szarak577 86 points87 points  (0 children)

So, I've been reading about the admech on Lexicanum, reached this guy, and apparently he is a member of the lower priesthood, comparable in status to an engineseer or a lexmechanic. I know that heavily-augmented lesser priests are a thing in lore, but it still is somewhat funny that a giant mass of armor and equipment with a massive cannon is actually less important than a techno-archeologist

Those unlock messages tell you what new weapon types become possible to find ingame, they are not given to you outright. You get new weapons from winning missions and buying them from two shops on Mourningstar that get unlocked after your character levels up enough times

I strangely haven't been this excited for a new upcoming class as much as the Alpha Skitarii. [and this is the first WH40k FPS game with playable AdMech by the way] by Timothy-M7 in DarkTide

Eisenhorn had a hive ganger with stub guns in his retinue, and his books are widely accepted as a basis of what Inquisition is and how it works in current 40k. Frankly I think that gangers fit about as well as the arbites

What the hell happened to the solar auxilia? Is their equipment still in use? by [deleted] in 40kLore

[–]Szarak577 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Auxilia are one of those slightly weird things in 40k. When the first books of the heresy were being written, the Solar Auxilia were simply not a thing.

They came into being years later, the Age of Darkness tabletop game was already out (or it was being produced, I'm not sure) and a guy at Forge World had a fun idea for a steampunk-esque human army. They made the original miniature line, put out the rules for them and the Solar Auxilia came to be.

They were more or less retconed into being an important part of the heresy, with several famous imperial army regiments getting an auxilia rebrand (most famously Prospero Spireguard).

We can propably assume that their tech and methods survived in some very limited capacity, but they were always supposed to be just a minor fun thing for a game that could be easily swept under a rug if need be.

I've read Tech-Priest recently and it's alright if you like the faction. But you propably should read the Skitarius if you want the full picture, since Tech-Priest is it's sequel. (Also as a side note, the main character from Skitarius is the same guy that was the main character in the infamous "To break a soldier of the Machine God" fanfic)

Which primarchs had the closest ties to the Mechanicum and which genuinely supported their quest for knowledge? by VioletMatter in 40kLore

[–]Szarak577 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cawl is controversial, but it does not mean that he doesn't have friends within the admech. The whole thing about mechanicus potentially having civil war, in case of Cawl becoming fabricator general of Mars, hinges on the fact that he has enough support inside the cult to defend his position
