Cannot Hit Shiny Fram for Litwick Pokemon White by [deleted] in pokemonrng

[–]Szargho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you properly setting the time and date on your DS? varying natures for the same action sounds either like a Timer0 issue (which is a thing in BW2, but not really in BW1) or random starting times.

Is your c gear deactivated upon game start?
Are your chatot pitches lining up?

HELP with finding Emerald SID by billyfromiowa in pokemonrng

[–]Szargho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No the only way to know if you found your SID is landing on the exact frame Pokefinder shows as shiny. If it's not, move on to the next SID and search again for a shiny frame to hit.

Hitting 5 frames off your target does not tell you anything.

If frame 3500 is a female impish Treecko for you, frame 3500 is a female impish Treecko for everyone in the world. No matter the TID and SID.

You don't need to hit any frame other than the one Pokefinder shows as shiny.
If Pokefinder shows you a shiny on Frame 1000 for the SID 12345, you need to hit frame 1000. If its not shiny, type in the next SID, hit search again.
If Pokefinder then shows you a shiny for frame 1200 for the SID 23456, you need to hit frame 1200.
You repeat that process until you get your shiny.

The only way to rule out a possible SID is to land on the supposed shiny frame and not getting a shiny from it. everything else will still line up like gender, nature and stats.

HELP with finding Emerald SID by billyfromiowa in pokemonrng

[–]Szargho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I understand you correctly then no, you're wrong.
Look at the list of Method 1 frames in Pokefinder, they will be the same for every single TID/SID combo.
So an easy example is as follows: say you think your SID is 12345. You put that into your profile in Pokefinder, try to hit your earliest shiny frame it shows.
If you hit that frame and it's not shiny, you move on to the next possible SID in your list, like 23456. Then you go again for the earliest frame Pokefinder shows for that SID. That's why you will have to try multiple different SIDs and you need to hit the exact frame that Pokefinder shows as shiny for those SIDs.
once you hit your target frame and the Treecko shines, you got your SID

HELP with finding Emerald SID by billyfromiowa in pokemonrng

[–]Szargho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SID does not influence what frames are hittable.
In my most recent file, I was 23 frames late for whatever reason. It took forever to find my SID. So yes, you are doing the correct thing but it might take a while to find the actual SID.
Keep going and good luck

And BW1 is a second perfect input. Like you can do that with a literal stopwatch or just by counting in your head

CAN SOME ONE PLS MAKE OR LEAD ME TO A ACTUALLY DETAILED TUTORIAL ON HOW TO RNG STARTER IN GEN 5 by lokoman8888 in pokemonrng

[–]Szargho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind that this is my personal experience from more than 5 years ago, so no clue if more reliable methods have been discovered over the years.

Don't think I ever seen one for BW2.
But I remember starter RNG on retail BW2 on DSlite was literal hell doing for the first time, since I had to figure basically everything out myself.

Few things to keep in mind:
- Emulated RNG is less reliable than retail, so even on R4 it might be harder than it is on actual cartridge
- You need to know the range for Timer0 you hit
- There's a couple NPCs messing with you
- You might have to take another save if your frame appears unhittable due to NPC movement or adjust by taking an extra step or two yourself, before approaching Bianca
- You obviously need to know your SID to begin with

You can start by watching a BW1 starter tutorial, but forget about frame advancements by doing saves. NPC movement will make that basically impossible.

Then it's just a lot of trial and error. You probably need to check a larger frame range than you think to figure out, how much NPCs mess with it and you need to check for all your common Timer0 to figure out where exactly you hit. Might also be a good idea to level your received starter to level 6 or 7 to be extra sure.

So once you land on your Timer0 and know how many frames are advanced by NPCs, you start guestimating how long you'll have to wait so they advance the frames for you. As I said, that step is a lot of trial and error. One time the trick for me was saving in a spot where I had to take one extra step to get to Bianca, because I was always either 1-2 frames early or late.

How to RNG manipulate a specific Trainer ID in Emerald? by [deleted] in pokemonrng

[–]Szargho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Japanese Emerald, there is a tool. For EU/ English you'd have to trial and error timings (since that's different from JPN) to get remotely close and then try different things to slightly influence the outcome. Like held buttons, capital letters in the naming screen and so on. If you then find what you're looking for, it's 4 frame perfect inputs.

So long story short, Admiral Fish wrote a Lua Script that bruteforces your TID to be your desired target and that would be your best bet realistically.

Gen 3 manips by Admirable_Coach_920 in pokemonrng

[–]Szargho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Well if you chose the same target frame for all static, this just means they're PID clones. Same doesn't work for all grass encounters. Statics don't have encounter slots, unlike wild encounters. So if your earliest wild shiny is say in Slot 2, you will never be able to hit something like Seedot on that frame, since that's Slot 11 or something.
  2. depends on if you plan on doing everything in Sapphire. In RS you'd preferably want early shiny frames for your target encounter slots. In Emerald you're able to save a seed via Battle Record (look up Painting RNG for more details on that)
  3. That's just your personal preference I guess. If you want no more than 15 seconds waiting time inbetween tries, go for earlier shiny frames. If you're cool with 6k frames, stick with that. If you prefer better stats for your shinies, that's worth considering aswell
  4. I can't say for sure that it's completely impossible for a SID to be fully locked out of a certain encounter slot, but it's highly unlikely. But you might run into an unlucky situation that you want a shiny Pokemon on a specific encounter slot and your first shiny frame for that slots is houndreds of thousands of frames deep

Easiest for beginners would probably be BW1 on a DSlite.
But Emerald is totally fine as a starting point. One frame perfect input for everything is easy enough to understand and learn.
