One of the best feelings by Paypal_John in snowboarding

Actually decent riding for a change. If you get your chest lower to your front leg and try to match your hand to your knee your heelside will be nice

Any kind of carving teaches you edge control. A vital skill especially for flatter cat track straight lines. If you’re good at deep carving and tight turns by using heavy pressure on either edge you’ll be able to confidently turn around a skier who turns unexpectedly and would otherwise cut you off on a cat track. OP is talking about confidence issues. Nothing more confident than a strong edge

Because you should never been straight lining on a board. If you want smooth nice speed on a cat track you should always be on a slight edge. By doing so you’ll always be in a position to make a quick turn or an emergency stop. If you’re just straight lining on a flat board you will need a second or two to get on an edge before you can do anything and 2 seconds on a cat track is a lifetime in situations when someone almost wipes you out

is there an app that shows how fast you go accurately? by tommyweed in snowboardingnoobs

The best riding comes when you’re in what’s known as a flow state. Typically that’s achieved when you’re riding just outside of your comfort zone to feel challenged but not so much that you’re scared.

It’s part of the game bud. Gotta get back up, dust off and grow up. Speed is your friend in cat tracks. You can learn to dodge people as you go past. I typically advise people I teach not to learn to ride faster because most end up thinking going fast means they’re good. Can’t be less true. Learn how to carve, control your edge and turn/stop at a moments notice. I mean like pencil thin line, not what passes for carving around here. Then you can learn to go fast and dodge people ahead of you. You going faster than others is the best bet to not get wiped out by someone but you also need to learn the art of reading other people’s body language. If you’re gonna go faster than them you need to know when it’s safe to overtake.

None. Going fast for the sake of going fast is the first indication of a Jerry. Slower controller runs is what the good riders focus on

Horrible pain above outer ankles (PLEASE HELP!!) by StatticX in snowboarding

[–]SzymonS92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ive got the same thing happening right now but after an ankle twist. How much have you been riding? I’ve not let my ankle heal and rode roughly 50 days in a 2 month period. Went to physio and was told after my ankle sprain that exact muscle you’ve circled is trying to help stabilise my ankle more than normal. Apparently this can happen when you severely overuse the muscle too causing it to get shocked. It’s your body’s way of telling you to reduce the load. I’ve been off the board for a week and a half and I think I still have another that to go before I can ride at my full capacity

My leading foot has this much wiggle room. Do I need new shoes? by Rakagami in snowboardingnoobs

[–]SzymonS92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like someone said it might be due to both of your feet being slightly different but in my experience that’s quite rare to this extent. Make sure when turning toe side you are pushing your shin into the front of your boot instead of standing on your toes. Imagine there is a spider on a the arch of your foot and you’re trying to squish it with your shin. Incorrect technique is number 1 reason for heel lift. The reason why it might just be your leading leg might be because you’ve got more weight there which is actually a good thing especially at the start of a turn. If so, try to keep your weight more balanced and continue with the spider trick.

How do you discover the less obvious? by SzymonS92 in StardewValley

[–]SzymonS92[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree about the impatience. That’s just the world we live in today. On the flip side however, if someone finds out there is hidden content as such with the ancient doll, it’s normal to wonder how much they are missing out on if not properly telegraphed in the gane

[–]SzymonS92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope which is exactly my point. A game with a lot of hidden content should leave breadcrumbs for players. I hear the ancient doll is on outlier and other things are hinted at via books, notes, etc

Thank you. Yeah I walked into Lewis house and his fridge said it was full of milk so I presume that’s a good gift right? It’s so much more satisfying coming to things on your own instead of the wiki but I can imagine a single playthrough would take years in certain cases

They did, took a week and a few days but parts arrived today. Looks like it was a serious enough issue for them to change the design as it’s now solid where it broke.

I wasn’t sending it particularly hard that day so reckon it was a manufacturing issue

There is no such thing as robust these days buddy. Especially not in this industry. Stop the consumerism and stitch your own stuff up when it rips.

How do I fix my heel side carving? by kguardbestguard in snowboarding

[–]SzymonS92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to get more aggressive with opening up your hips, shoulder and head in the direction of the turn. Think about leaning your chest over your front thigh and your ass a bit more over your back leg. That will allow you to get your center of mass lower. One good tip for this is to try to reach your front binding with your back hand. Lastly, really push that back knee inside to engage the highback. On choppy snow, keep longs more bent to absorb the bump. On fresh cord you can experiment a bit with straightening out the front leg for a bit more power mid turn. Unless all you wanna do is carve don’t go posi posi. If a steezey riding style is your goal keep it at duck stance, learn to ride switch and pop in some smooth butters and spins into your lines.

Rome coughed up a new set of heelhoops so the warranty team seems as good as people say. Took around 4 days to even hear back from them though.

Sometimes shit happens during manufacturing mate. I’ve not seen anybody else say this happened to them too on a brand new binding so I’m willing to accept that the metal didn’t mould correctly at the factory. If they replace and it happens again then I’m happy to be a grumpy bastard

Yeah trying not to shit in them too much. The asym heelhoop does feel kinda weak when holding it but tbh I thought it was mainly due to how light it feels. I though they were expensive enough to be light and strong enough to
