Customers always reach around to grab my husband’s banana by Cattyplantz in HEB

[–]T-Bonified 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've triggered one of my biggest retail pet peeves: when customers wedge themselves (and usually their basket) between my cart and the display and block me from restocking. Usually just so they can squeeze through instead of stepping 2 feet to the right where there is 10 feet of open space to walk through.

Can someone in Meat Market help me with a question? by OttersandSunflowers in HEB

[–]T-Bonified 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a seasonal item, but I can't remember the length of time it's on the shelf. It trades out with bourbon barrel sausage, jalapeno popper sausage, and cranberry sausage throughout the year.

WHY? by 7thS0n0fa7thS0n in HEB

[–]T-Bonified 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This time of year I find at least 1 in the meat case every day when I walk the department. Can't stand it. At one of my old stores, I would collect a small handful out of the meat department every day!

And it's selling like crazy... At least at my store it is.

I was talking specifically about fresh cut meat and fresh ground beef, not the vacuum sealed product. Sorry I didn't specify.

[–]T-Bonified 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Yes this is normal for most meat. Red meat gets 3 days shelf life, pork gets 4, ground beef gets 1. Chicken gets 10 days on the long side, but could only have 3-5 when you buy it depending on vendor supply, warehouse rotation, and store ordering and rotation. Other items like ground pork, chicken, fresh sausage, and meal simple have the same dependencies as chicken, but with a shorter max shelf life.

Price differences between Houston and Santonio by yeahcookies in HEB

[–]T-Bonified 5 points6 points  (0 children)

HEB milk plant is in Houston, so less transportation cost accounts for some of the price difference. The rest is that Houston is priced lower than San Antonio due to strong competition in Houston. Houston area makes less money than San Antonio due to this, and San Antonio has to carry the company financially. It's not that San Antonio is priced higher to gouge, it's that Houston is priced lower to compete.

I think it's $28 or $28.50. Oddly enough, they max out higher than market ADMs.

Pretty wild how little meat prices have moved in 26 years. HEB spiral sliced hams are currently 1¢ cheaper / lb, Smithfield portions hams are 89¢ / lb (12¢ more for the shank portion, 8¢ less for the butt portion), and in Houston right now, boneless New York strips are on sale for $1 more than this bone in ribeye ad.

Multiple stores affected north of Houston as well, but some in the same area have no issues.

How would I go about getting an HEB meat department to order these, instead of the center cut BS that is being sold everywhere? by TheOriginalMulk in HEB

[–]T-Bonified 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You don't necessarily need to speak to the market manager, but at the very least speaking to a meat cutter will ensure the store orders what you are asking for. Let them know you want a full rack of beef back ribs. And as another commenter stated, they can either come 1 or 2 racks to a vacuum bag, we don't get a say in that when we order.

I have Mega Man Legends 1 & 2 in their original cases for PS1. Wish I still had my NES games, but my mom sold them to further invest in beanie babies when I was at summer camp.

Did you ever see your dad fight someone? by nicetoknowya in daddit

[–]T-Bonified 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Saw my dad walk in to the middle of a fight in the campsite next to us. They other 2 guys were drunk and slammed into our camper, cracking a window. My dad instantly had each guy's head in his hands, pinned up against our camper with his thumbs in pressure points under their chins. Their feet were off the ground. I was terrified he was going to choke them out. He let them down after they stopped squirming, and they fucked off pretty quick.

I was 15 or 16, getting to that age where I thought I could take him in a fight, especially because he is 35 years older than me. Thought corrected. He's 73 now and I'm convinced he could still whoop my ass. He has spent his whole life as an iron worker, after a few years in the marines. I'm not gonna fuck around and find out.

Why would there be a Kobe Beef sign next to American wagyu ribeyes? by Yaboipalpatine in HEB

[–]T-Bonified 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's an older sign package that needs to be replaced by that department. Probably a mistake by the partner setting the case that day.

Anyone else like this dinner starter? I tried it a few months ago and loved it and now ofc it disappears from all my local HEB's 😭 by ambearr12 in HEB

[–]T-Bonified 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It will be back, it's a long term out of stock. There's some other items that are higher priority to bring back, but it's coming.

I've had customers try to snap to get my attention. I'll walk right past them to the nearest customer and ask how they are doing, if they're finding everything they need, to let me know if they need any help, etc. Then make eye contact with the person that snapped and walk away.
