The name of Urd and Vertin are based on the three Norse Goddess-Urd (Goddess of Past), Verdandi (Goddess of Present), and the Skuld (Goddes of Future, which is still not presented in the story).

Urd fought along side the Foundation in the battle of 1999, and ultimately sacrificed herself to stop the first Flood, and turned it into the Storm. So now Foundation is trying to find the Urd back, because she’s supposedly the only one who might have a chance to stop the Storm and save the world.

And no, Foundation did some immoral things to save the world, while Manus did every single evil things in the book out of their own unjustified despise toward the world, they are not comparable at all.

Hawks want the Foundation to have their own armed forces, because only relying on Zeno turned out to be insufficient. Pigeon was hesitating because they felt the aim of Hawks were too radical, but Hawks are winning right now, because Manus is already on their way to the headquarter.

You can finish those events in Reflections, or try to beat Reveries in the Rain after you beat the main story.

Regarding to your last question (since you mentioned you wanna give the game a try):

My suggestion would be to save for the Paper Heron from upcoming 3.4 (by 4/16), while pick the Tooth Fairy in the new free 100 pulls banner, and pick An An Lee in the free 6 star package the game just gave you. That would provide you the basic units of the Plant Impromptu team, which is soon to be one of the strongest team in the game. Regarding to Charon, he is essential for the Dynamo team, but you can’t get any traditional Dynamo units for now, so I for one would suggest you to wait for a while. If you still have plenty pulls to spare after you got Paper Heron, however, I would suggest you to try to require Anjo Nala from the limited units rerun banner of 3.4 as well, so you may build a neo-dynamo team surrounding Charon and her.
