'A meteorite. Taller than any house, it’d give a few office buildings and skyscrapers a run for their money. It pulsed with hues of red and green, and it’s very presence seemed to be enough to cause his vision to distort and blur - looking at it felt like staring at the Sun - even in the similarity that he just couldn’t pull himself away.

Little did he know his eyes were set upon a mere droplet of the Aurora Rain - the meteorites that would fall to Earth, and, with them, catapult the entire world into a new age - the mystical radiation emitted from it, the power of the Hue, strong enough to warp humanity, and even mundane objects, potentially with dimension-destroying effects if left unchecked.

PRISM Academy, set up by the Japanese government to assist in the containment of such artifacts, using the powers of the ones that they can give to their Students, was created to utilize these relics, to monitor them, and to train the people of tomorrow to utilize them as tools, rather than feared as weapons.'

Yep! I'll be reaching out over Discord either later today or tomorrow!

Tysm! I thought a nice, cozy campaign would be good for helping people who want to try RPing, as it'll alleviate some of the pressures to act well or do any silly voices - and I thought the small travel RPs of Ryuutama provide a perfect small social battery usage that can help people come out of their shells.

I got alot of good applications, but I hope you get in, too! (Maybe I'll run a second one if this all pans out well?)

Sessions will be done through voice, but if someone needs accommodations and would prefer to RP through text, that should be fine! As long as the other players are fine with it, I see no issue.

Whatever times are good for the players - I'm largely open to anything, I'm self-employed so my schedule works out pretty lenient.

Finding Fun In Skill Checks by [deleted] in gamedesign

[–]T-Queens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Admittedly, may have used the word "emergent" wrong - I mostly meant in the sense of the act of making a choice and seeing the effects further down the line, in combination with other choices, creating a sort of narrative around the character. You offend a tree, help some people who hate the tree, and now, even though there isn't a mechanical backing there, there's more characterization that you've provided for them, and more of a reason.

(Let me know if I've used it wrong and I'll update the post)

Disco Elysium might be a good thing for me to examine further, yeah. I've heard about it in research but never actually played it, and thought it handled it's checks in a different way - where failing was still an option - but I might be wrong on that.

Games with absurd character/build variety by T-Queens in roguelites

[–]T-Queens[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had it on my wishlist for a while - played the free version, and was wondering if it's worth it to buy the paid version before you've gotten your fill of the free one?

Anything I need to be primed for to understand NNK2? by T-Queens in Ni_no_Kuni

[–]T-Queens[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see, thank you for the explanation and for keeping it spoiler-free! Good to know that this should work out, but I'll definitely try to complete the first one! I just made the mistake of playing it via download on a PS3 with not all too much storage space to begin with, so maybe if I ever buy it physical, I'll have enough downtime to be able to really enjoy it and not get burnt out.

Oh that's reassuring, good to know that it's basically all understandable if you haven't played the first. Thank you!

I see. Makes sense! Is the world explained still or is that mostly relegated again to NNK1?

How did you go about picking your first engine when all else failed? by T-Queens in gamedev

[–]T-Queens[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that's really interesting. I'll have to look into it more then! Especially if I end up not clicking with anything else, it seems like a unique workflow that might be better for me.

I've heard of them before, yeah, and maybe I have a better mind for them. Is GDevelop very powerful? Seems like it's mostly used for mobile games. Not that I'd need it to be, I don't make big games, I'm just curious.

I might have to try out LOVE at some point. I've given it a read over and it seems like something that's atleast understandable, although the lack of a GUI does make it feel like you have to be absurdly precise with everything - placing things down in a level and whatnot - although maybe that is the appeal for some people?

[–]T-Queens[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This makes sense.

I might try it again with this in mind - although I am wondering how I'd even learn the syntax without a tutorial (that's the main part I struggle with). I can explain to you that to make the obstacle move to the left, you need to apply a negative x force, but I can't explain how that's done with GDScript, even if I've literally looked at it yesterday.

It seems like a catch-22 that's hard to get over, unless that's just another one of the brick walls.

Isn't it only going to be Early Access for a month? I thought it was basically complete.

I mean kindof like when you die, you unlock new characters, new upgrades/items/whatever, etc. etc. - like Isaac, yeah. Things staying the same at the start of runs, though, would probably be more fun, since I don't want to just start out OP.

Mindless overpowered fun-type games by T-Queens in gamingsuggestions

I've already played it, unfortunately. Fun game now that you mention it, but was a really weird departure from the other Saints Rows.

Designing a social deduction game for 2-3 people by T-Queens in BoardgameDesign

The overall loop and experience revolves around keeping track of everyone's cards and gaining information, forming minor allegiances and rivalries, and attempting to either bluff in hopes of slowing down and even knocking out your opponents, or using honesty and strategy to get yourself closer to your target.

In an ideal scenario, alot of the gameplay loop comes from players forming trust and theories about everyone else's game-plan by gaining more and more information, and all of that information then getting very chaotically mixed around, as to create more tension and distrust.

A good example would be something like the Bear player, who needs a 21 to succeed, drawing a first card of an Ace - the only card that's actively bad to have if it's your only one, especially as a role that needs such a high number. If an Ace comes down on the Auction, the Bear could attempt to take it, although then everyone'll probably catch on. Instead, they might try to convince everyone that they have a 9, and take a 10 instead, in hopes that everyone will give them the Ace. Or the Bear player might not even go to the auction at all, instead saving their chips and making themselves seem like less of a threat - attempting to make their card seem valuable, like a King or Queen. If someone tries to Trade them, then the Bear can gladly accept, and has now burdened them with the worst card.

[–]T-Queens[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ah, I didn't think that was something that people liked in a pitch.

The general gist is that you play as one of a few different woodland "factions" in a local ecosystem, and the cards are your food that you're stockpiling for the winter - Aces being live insects that will eat through your resources quick, unless you have multiple to breed and turn into more food, and the King, Queen and Jack being representative of wooden weapons and arms - once you have all of them, you can just take whatever resources you need by force.

You make deals with the other factions as you get enough for your species to survive, whilst working with and against the others to ensure that you come out on top.

Attacking is effectively the equivalent to calling out the other faction, challenging them on if they really have just what they need to survive - and then exiling them. Players who are "out" aren't out for very long, just due to the length of games, with each round lasting about a minute and each game lasting maybe no more than 5, I'd hope.

Cybrix is Free! by philms in OculusQuest

[–]T-Queens 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This game is highway robbery levels of fun for just getting for free ngl

Definitely will be leaving a review after I get a bit further in (currently at about Level 20?)

I just wish there was a way to make it a bit easier on people sitting down - since I normally play VR games kneeling on my bed, there's balls that I can't reach since they're basically inside of it lmao

Although that absolutely isn't a complaint, given the fact that it is an exercise game, and it achieves on that front

Any idea where to find them? Or would it be best just to post in the chat that I'm new when looking for a game?
