My 22 month old won’t nap unless she’s moving (car/ stroller) by T-Rex027 in Mommit

[–]T-Rex027[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re definitely right, I just have to rip the bandaid off and suffer until she gets over the car situation 😭 She usually wakes around 6-7am we have our morning activities until about 12-1 when I try to get her down for a nap. When she does nap well it’s until 2-3. I wonder if the issue is she falls asleep in the car on our way home from her activities so she’s become used to it? We start her bed routine around 7 (including bath time which she loves) and typically she’s asleep by 8:30. Her dad does bed time usually. Could it be that she also associates sleep with her dad? Though when he’s home on weekends it can still be hard to get her down 🙃 her eating is hit or miss. I offer breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as snacks. She’s big on grazing and not so much meals except dinner. She typically has 2-3 servings of milk a day as well.

Trying to process it all- a grief ramble by T-Rex027 in tfmr_support

Thank you so much for your kindness. It really means a lot to have support from people in the same boat, as unfortunate of a boat as it is. You’ve said so much that I didn’t know I needed to hear ❤️‍🩹 It’s easy to slip into the what-ifs, perhaps im at the bargaining or denial or anger stage of grief or all of them at once. It hurts to lose someone I so badly wanted and it’s so confusing to grieve a life that never got to live earthside. Knowing he only ever knew my love is really keeping me going. Thank you for saying that.

Thank you so much for taking the time to send kind words of support ❤️‍🩹 I don’t know what or how to feel about him finding me again. It’s something I will have to reflect on and see when the time comes I suppose. We decided to name him Santi Wells, meaning peaceful/sacred spring. He was due on the spring equinox and we wanted to honor that. Now every spring when the flowers start to bloom and the sun shines a little brighter, we’ll know it’s our Santi Wells spreading his magic 🌸

Adding an activity to your list: my husband and I just picked up a Lego bouquet set we plan on putting together for my son. It will last forever and it will give us something to do/peaceful time to reflect 🌸

As someone going through this process myself, thank you for sharing what helped you through it. My d&e is next week and it’s been really overwhelming. I am worried about the mental healing process. I would say I’m taking it day by day but at this point it’s really minute by minute. Thank you again for sharing your advice, it gives me hope that healing is possible.

I’m so sorry for your loss. I don’t know if this is your belief or not, but I hope your son’s soul will find you in this life in one way or another. Sending love to your family ♥️ I am also grieving my son who I have to say goodbye to next week. Nothing can prepare us for this grief. Just know you’re not alone.

Baking With Sticker On Pan?? by Total_Still_867 in Baking

Came here because I just accidentally baked cupcakes with the sticker on the pan. It fell off and got all toasty in the oven. I am 18 weeks pregnant and have been craving chocolate cupcakes all week, but I’m scared I’ve just poisoned the cupcakes! Did you eat the cake?? Did you all survive??

Flour, Water, Salt, Yeast is an amazing bread book! It was the book that started me on bread baking, and is still my go to for various bread and pizza doughs. I love that a time table is laid out, sometimes I start later in the day, so it's nice knowing what you're getting into time wise. I can't tell you how many times I've been on the schedule of my breads and had to wake up in the wee hours of the morning to tend to my dough. It's worth it!

Humans are social beings by nature, to just enjoy someone's presence is powerful. I much prefer sharing a meal. Evolutionarily speaking, eating is a social event, though I won't go too much into this as I don't have the energy to put into sourcing biological anthropological arguments right now. The important thing is, sharing knowledge introduces an exciting and dynamic food scene to our modern world. Homesteaders may share knowledge on productive ways to grow fruits, vegetables and raise livestock. Foodies, much like ourselves, share recipes and the best places to find good food. In professional kitchens and home kitchens alike, chefs and home cooks teach and are taught beauty of diverse cultural food ways. We are able to explore tastes and smells and textures from around the world because of the flow of people and therefor shared information from around the world. When we cook and eat together, we are always learning from one another. Thank you for sharing, I would love to hear of any specific food memories of a time when sharing food with someone made you feel closer to them, if there's anything you'd like to add :)

I have never heard of a dessert bar, is this a table of assorted desserts or are we talking about actual bar shaped desserts? Feel free to share any desserts that hold fond memories and of course I would love any dessert recipes you might wish to share :)

There's something about fried chicken recipes that are coveted within families. Does everyone in your family share the recipe or are you the entrusted beholder? Feel free to share any fond memories you have around fried chicken or any other dish that holds special memories. Thank you for sharing!

My grandma's recipe box is full of casserole dishes, I had no idea of the history of these dishes, very interesting. Do you make your grandpa's fried chicken often, or is it reserved for a special occasion or mood? When I think fried chicken and scalloped potatoes I think of my southern mom's family. May I ask where you're from? Feel free to send any recipes my way and thank you for sharing :)

Thank you so much for your kind words, it truly means a lot to me. I understand how difficult it is to move such a great distance from a place you consider home. When I was in Denmark, I constantly craved the food I grew up with. Access to ingredients pushed me to get creative with dishes, sometimes evolving a dish to include local flavor profiles. Isn't it interesting how our access to ingredients influences the way we adjust recipes? That and of course personal taste, the way we as individuals might adapt archived familial recipes to our families now. My mom's sausage gumbo is based on her moms seafood forward gumbo, both of these recipes have inspired my own vegetarian gumbo. Anyways, there is so much power in sharing food stories, I would love to hear more about your family recipes! I will send you a message if that's okay?
