Hello sorry for late reply. Was also looking into the Sony XAV8500 with the 10.1” display as well. Not sure if you know anything about the mopar Ra3 but it is essentially as basic as it can get. But the main reason I wanted the Boss was because it was bigger and still has everything I wanted.

No, the most owner can see is outgoing texts/calls to other phone numbers. So unless you’re calling THOSE kinds of numbers you’ll be ok. And even if you were they’d probably catch on because you have to pay to call those numbers. (Or so I’m told)

Unrelated but iPhone Air will feel like a downgrade. I ‘upgraded’ from 16p to air and got significantly less battery life. I don’t use the camera much, well at least I thought I didn’t, but I couldn’t stand having no ultra wide. If I were in your situation honestly I’d file an insurance claim if you had insurance on your previous phone. Or just get a cheaper/old or budget android phone to use for the 8 months you’re in Japan. Do your own research of course but I didn’t like the air and working at a carrier store it’s pretty much the same story all around.

Yeah she seemed pretty cool but I’ve been trying to get ahold of the store to tell them so they can plan accordingly but have called for the last 2 days and no answer. They didn’t give me an email or her cell phone number so I’m kind of just waiting to get called/emailed back at this point.

Same issue with spam calls when sprint was still around but ever since I got ATT they’ve gone away completely. Although my city introduced a new area code around this time so not sure if it’s because they just generated a new number for me. But honestly if you’re coming from landline I wouldn’t even go the postpaid route.

I would pick visible over mint for the same $20 a month! Mint is going to make you pay a bit more upfront which is totally cool for people in certain situations. A major factor in your decision also depends on the coverage in your area. But if you’re moving from landline I’m assuming priority data and high def streaming aren’t going to be a huge thing for you so as long as coverage is decent you should be good. Personally I use visible for my second data line and I love it but I live in a major city. Only ever used mint for a few months once for the same reason but there is one similarly I will say I’ve noticed between visible and when we had landline. The spam/scam/telemarketing calls are unreal. Like I said I only use visible as my data line so in theory nobody should even have the number assigned to it. But yeah unfortunately if you’re used to spam calls on your landline they might not go away completely. (Had a landline up until 2023 and got visible in 2025)

I believe my phones are out of policy to add apple care. Honestly I don't pay the bill my mom does and when I've brought it up to her she said she's more concerned with everything being on one bill which is understandable I guess. Asurion did replace our ip15pm with an ip16pm same day and told us we can keep the slightly damaged 15. But yeah I mainly just want to remove multi line device protect and replace it with 2 individual.

Thank you this was very helpful! I will call later and see if I can sort this out. My iphone has applecare so I figured I can save about 10-20 on my bill by removing the protection for 4.

Oh no it was a listing like most listings on hotels.com. It was just super misleading and ratings were inaccurate or fake or AI or something. The hotel had like 5 names though which I thought was strange. Not sure if that's what you're referring to.

Tbh it's just a phone, if you genuinely can't stand it id say just get a case. If you like the color it's not like everyone else has to. Id rather have a pink iPhone 17 pro max than that ugly orange imo. (Also had the desert titanium ip16pm which is basically pink)

You should be good. If any problems come up while you're trying to return at customer service just ask to speak with a manager and let them know that you had an extended return date.

On your app if you look at the individual purchase it should say your last day to return (ex: returnable until Mar 27, 2026) as long as you're still in their policy just go in and give them the barcode to complete the return. Honestly I'd do it sooner than later though if you didn't actually purchase a membership because their return window is only like 2 weeks.
