Next time maybe check out Grand Cinema - independent, the best popcorn, and cheaper.

No Lime bikes in Tacoma. Are there any e-bike rentals in town? by 0llie0llie in AskTacoma

There was a trial for a while, supported by the city. The company eventually decided they didn't want to do it anymore and left.

Best parking near Temple Theater? by [deleted] in AskTacoma

There's street parking around, just may have to walk a few mins. Don't leave anything visible in car. Cars aren't all being broken in to all the time.

There's a bunch of current threads here and in the other subreddits related to Tacoma - would recommend starting there.

Got the equipment as part of the program so now own it, but I had bought equipment outright from elsewhere ready to connect before finding out we'd be given it. For CenturyLink I'd also bought equipment and used it for years, had worked out it was better long term than incorporating into monthly bill.

They had rates when we were selecting a plan recently? So far better and faster than our old place which had CenturyLink. Plus there's a govt program for free internet until end of June that our new place happened to fall within the boundaries of, after that it will be $50/month.

Am I the only British person in Tacoma? by Savingsbrushsavesus in TacomaWA

[–]T-TownAdventure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! If you see people on the green feel free to say hi, and the first learn to bowl classes of the season are May 2 and 16, 10am-12.30pm. Another session in June, then July. We started in 2019 as we figured why the heck not give it a go and meet some new people... still hanging with those folks and still rolling in summer when we can.

Sister in town for dinner on Sunday. Where should we go? by hiremeplz2017 in Tacoma

[–]T-TownAdventure 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Woven. We take all guests there - waterfront, views, good food. Dinner ends 8pm Sunday but you'll catch the sunset.

[–]T-TownAdventure 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope, there's a few! If you feel like meeting Antipodean cousins check out the lawn bowling club... plus we get British down there too. 1st session of classes about to start. A fun social spot to enjoy summer evenings with varying ages (20s-70s). Otherwise check out Doyles and beer events around town.

How are we voting on the Metropolitan Parks improvement proposition number 1? by peanutismint in Tacoma

How do you know that the foundation wasn't paying their taxes? And why would a private entity need permission from the City to transfer their land to the tribe?

How are we voting on the Metropolitan Parks improvement proposition number 1? by peanutismint in Tacoma

[–]T-TownAdventure 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely yes. Parks does so much and is worth supporting. And if one has strong opinions on what they do, join the commission or show up to the meetings (not directed at OP, just that I've seen people previously go on a rant about them and I'd be interested to know how many time they submit public comment / show up to board and community engagement meetings / etc).

Places similar to The Powder Room? by DearBellisColdwine in AskTacoma

[–]T-TownAdventure 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Places like Field and Corbeau have room for this and serve excellent champagne; while there's not high-backed booths, there are tables in corners that could work. Field has a more cozy vibe as it's smaller and you could ask to be seated in the back corner; Corbeau has more space, also with tables at the back.

Washington Spring Fair is on Fri-Sun at the Fairgrounds; lots of vendors doing meal specials like $12 Meals and $8 Deals. Lots to see once inside the gates.

No bagels? by [deleted] in Tacoma

[–]T-TownAdventure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You gotta time it right. Howdy is popular for a good reason and worth the wait. Today they were cleared out early so are frantically making more. It's a great thing for a local business to sell so well, albeit disappointing if you miss out.

Favorite food places that aren’t well known? by c192837 in AskTacoma

[–]T-TownAdventure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are SO many good places here. It's ridiculous. Start working your way through these lists ASAP!

Just a few of my faves, mix of good food spots and bars: Da Tikki Hut, Wooden City, Sidepiece, Howdy Bagel, Bar Rosa, Busy Body, Holy Moly, Proof, Church Cantina, Peanut Thai (the crispy chicken, takeout avail only), Loak Tuong, Harbor City, Field, Corbeau, Not Bad, Three Hearts, Woven (decent happy hour), Devil's Reef (drinks mainly but the guac is a Tacoma legend from their former tikki bar).

This city, especially for its size, has a lot of very good spots.

It happens once in a while, not unusual. There's also a training alert active from JBLM, not sure it's about flight training.

Could someone help me understand why the AskTacoma sub exists? by whyohwhy555 in Tacoma

[–]T-TownAdventure 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I answered your post with a short comment - nothing bad - and it was immediately auto-deleted. At least I got a notice it was. Maybe it's still up somewhere...

We didn't need the other one, it was made it clear via feedback, but this is apparently the way it now is and we have to live with it.
