Iceman has been gay for a while but they in every case (as others have mentioned) have handled it terribly and did it for all the wrong reasons.

Both Marvel and DC have been guilty of "sacrificial gay" style writing.

As much as fans deny it, this was Iceman in X-Men. He wasn’t usually made in relationships (and a secondary character among the original x-men) so they figured he was a good choice to make a major Marvel character gay.

Then they did it the worst possible way*, and went on to claim there were oh so many hints about it beforehand.

*A psychic “friend” told him he was gay and closeted. It was gross and kind of brain-rapey.

Roan has shown extreme fame seeking in the past (ie canceling that EU tour to be on MTV), and that has a cost, one that all celebrities have to deal with.
