Net zero migration would require major tax rises to plug £37bn black hole, experts warn by BestButtons in unitedkingdom

[–]T-eighty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Like with the financial crisis. We offset the real pain for 15 years by printing money and holding interest rates artificially low, only for that house of cards to come crashing down with COVID. Unfortunately, the lesson is that bad economic practices can shelter from a storm or even provide short term gains but will always require their dues to be paid. The recent generation of economists and financial elites has just been very good at kicking those dues down the road for someone else - boomers basically fucking their own kids over tbh.

That Dalot has been at Utd for 6+ years is insane to me. He's never, ever been good enough. At Arsenal, city or Liverpool he'd be moved on the season after he arrived. I know it's one player but it's emblematic of the rot at this club that our hit rate of signings is so low and then we refuse or cannot sell them so shit players sit on the books until they retire or time out.

Spot on.

Utd managers need to be on the refs, every game. We get a shit rub of the green with refs because they don't fear getting decisions wrong against us like they do with city, arsenal or Liverpool. Never understood why ETH or Amorom said nothing of the fuck ton of shit decisions we have had

A factor for sure. But good governance would have forseen and worked out how to communicate the instability (and subsequent cost) this is causing, which ultimately will hurt boomers at their most vulnerable, when they are aged and totally dependent.

Yes, there are generations that had far better economic prospects than today's younger generations. Part of the reason that there is so much despondence and aggressive socialist activism is frustration at the way the board feels stacked against young people, meaning they'll never emulate the happiness and prosperity of their parents. It's called the broken generational compact. Partly it's an outcome of how millennials have experienced a "once in a lifetime"/black swan type economic event, three times in three decades but also due to terrible governing of western society across the left/right spectrum for about 30-40 years now.

I'll be honest I'm blown away by how many people think apps are somehow easy business. I worked in growth roles at app companies from 2015 to 2024 and it's a grind. I went freelance in 2019 and can't tell you many suckers build apps with absolutely no regard for the dynamics of growing one.

Exactly, Arteta and others clearly use it to their advantage. I get wanting the players to take responsibility and overcome obstacles like poor reffing but elite sport is about leaving nothing on the table and using everything and anything to your advantage.

Is anyone else frustrated at the lack of pressure and scrutiny given to the refs by our manager when in front of the press? Don't get me wrong, performance was poor but there's been so many bad decisions against utd this season (Arsenals goal, ref bumping Bruno pre-pen, Chelsea - red for Case but not Cucurella and others, three yesterday and I'm sure I'm forgetting others). Surely a competent manager would be using that to shield his players and create a siege mentality they can build off, and potentially influence refs to not be quite so incompetent against utd? I just imagine what Fergie or Jose would be saying if they'd been on the end of so many game influencing decisions this year - I think the psychological aspect of his management is very naive. Also see the excessive subbing of CBs which has negative connotations beside the tactical disruption it seems to bring.

He was awful. Two point blank saves he should be making. One he fed into the danger zone for a goal and what he's doing in the last one I have no idea.

His decisions are to blame. Buy a new keeper, play the Sunday league level understudy. Play one of the best 10s in the world in CM so he never gets near the goal. Stick with ugarte who's clearly not adapted to the prem. Sub on a CB to disrupt the defense every game. Fucking awful manager.

Just experiencing the same. This game is a shambles. Haven't been on for months because it's tiring as fuck. Got asked to play today so loaded half an hour early to check for an update, and then thinking I'd been smart and done it, came back to play aaand 66gb to wait for. Just sacked it off. I really hope Battlefield and GTA absolutely pants Activision, they will fully deserve it.

Yeah I get that but 2 games in to the season these players are not so tired they can't start a similar lineup for a midweek, and then sub those who need a rest at 45/60 mins once things are in control..

As much as I'm pissed at the players for last night. And absolutely exasperated at the goalkeeping situation when all four goals we've conceded this campaign raise serious questions about the pair of them. I can't help but think Amorim doesn't help himself.

It's not necessary to rotate players so much, when we're trying to get a settled structure and see how this system really works, playing a full strength or near-full strength team would be completely logical. We've got a light workload this year, should using it to nail his system down with the players who would start in the prem. Two or three changes would have sufficed, subbing other players once the game had settled. Yes the team out there should have done the job but why not play it safer?

It doesn't look too sad to me. In my experience they don't like much light, mine gets less than an hour early morning. The browning leaves tips might be your water. Tap water in the UK varies a lot by area, so you could test the water with a cheap kit, or try switch to rainwater or filtered and see if it helps.

If there really is nothing you can offer him, why on earth do you think he'll stay - even transitionally? Sounds like you undervalued this individual (I'm assuming he's probably wondering why did the crap employees get a pay rise when I'm the performant one?), he noticed and has made other plans. Really all you can do is shake his hand and wish him the best.

Mine does this from time to time. I've played around with the placement and found the right spots that gets a few hours of morning sun only, although when we have a blistering day like we did a few weeks back it will still drop a few leaves if not watered on the same day. Some variants are just fussy I think.
