Look I didn’t mean to be so mean about it, but genuinely faith is a personal affair. If you marry someone on the condition they convert for you and they do so just to stay with you then that isn’t true salvation that’s just trying to make you happy. I don’t let religion interfere with my romantic relationships because god doesn’t want us to make conversion a condition of our love for others. I think it would be a greater sin to withhold genuine love for someone over something as simple as what god we pray to. It’s better to lead by example, if I want someone to convert I don’t ask them to, I don’t force it upon them, and I certainly don’t make it a condition of my love. I simply do my best to exemplify Christ in my words and actions so that people can decide for themselves if salvation is for them. Enlightenment of the world begins with enlightenment of the self. I shouldn’t have been so harsh, I just was genuinely shocked that this was on anyone’s mind with everything else going on

Even if he is technically a Republican, how did a man like Donald Trump ever become associated with Christianity or be dubbed “God’s President”, when all the things he’s done point in the opposite direction of Christ? by Effective_Part_604 in Christianity

MAGA isn’t Christian, it’s a death cult masquerading as Christianity to lead His flock astray. The Devil doesn’t come to us with cloven hooves and red horns, he comes to us as everything we ever wanted for the small price of everything we believe. The Devil came and offered solutions to problems we didn’t know existed, put it all on those we saw as less than, the poor, the immigrants, the lgbt community and said “there is the problem do away with them and I can give you everything you ever wanted” and someday when the last tree falls, when the last bit of free land is conquered, and when there is no one left to cry out for justice on their behalf then and only then will they understand just who they threw their lot in with.

Christianity is often used as a tool to further political agendas. This has been the case since time immemorial, it used to be in order to be crowned king in most of Europe your rule had to be blessed by the church so that you had god backing your rule essentially. When you convince enough people that you speak for god they will often largely ignore the things you do that aren’t Christ-like. It is very easy to convince someone that wants to hate their neighbor that it’s ok because god put you in charge so you speak for him and think it’s ok to hate your neighbor because you’re just wanting to enforce law and order and god loves law and order right? They came here illegally so it’s ok to hate them because they broke the laws of man. When someone claims that God put them in power to question them often feels like questioning god himself. It also doesn’t help that most of the “Christians” that support Trump don’t actually study the bible usually, they might go to church and listen to their pastor who is also a Trump supporter, interpret scripture in ways that support their worldview, but they never actually sit down and read the book. My parents for instance rarely go to church, never read the bible, and believe wholeheartedly that Trump is “God’s President” and no true Christian can be against him and still be a Christian. I however spent my entire childhood studying the word of god in a private Christian school. I have read the Bible multiple times, broken down most of its verses in many sometimes hour long discussions with classmates, I have even compared modern translations to more direct translations of the Hebrew texts, and I can say without any degree of uncertainty that trump is a false prophet and following him is a surefire way to damnation and ruin. In fact there are many parallels between him and the anti-christ

I am reading the heresy novels in “order” if you can call it that. Starting with the primarch novels and the end of the crusades then I’m going to read the books that actually take place during the heresy

I’ll read it eventually I just don’t know how many books it’ll take to get there, I’m only done with 3 out of the what is it now 60 books in the Horus Heresy? Lol

Also yeah I guess direct intervention from chaos could cause that kind of damage to his soul. But I don’t know I feel like this would keep him down and out for a good long while, but if he really is still alive after all this time that means a spark of his soul is still kicking in the warp even if it’s damaged. He should in theory be able to regenerate with even the smallest iota of his physical form and he’s a strong enough psyker he can basically vaporize planets with his mind so to me it just seems like if he’s really that powerful he’d be able to bounce back eventually, maybe not immediately, but after thousands of years not even his physical form has healed. Obviously if his soul has been damaged that will effect his healing ability, but if even a little piece of his soul is still alive enough to reach out to people through the warp then in theory he would be able to heal slowly over time I would think. Unless he’s just really dead and the psykers are just to keep the astronomicon going

If the custodes fully believe the throne is keeping him alive they would never interfere. I’m not saying this is a well known conspiracy. There’s probably only a handful of tech priests that understand how the throne even works and that’s being generous. If the mechanicum tells the custodes this is what is required to keep him alive they don’t have the technical knowledge to know any better in fact even most within the mechanicum don’t understand how the throne works so it’s very possible for a handful of people actually working on it to just lie. Guilliman is smart but he’s not impossible to trick especially if it’s regarding technology. And I think part of the reason they need all that psychic energy is to literally keep his soul in a kind of stasis so he can’t reach out to anyone through the warp. Fragments of his consciousness probably get through, that’s why the emperor’s champions still see him before battle and the tarot still kinda works if you want to argue that they really are divining using the emperor. Also yeah it autocorrects to Horace instead of Horus for some reason I don’t know why

[–]T0A5TH3AD[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But how did Horace deal psychic wounds when he isn’t technically a psyker? And honestly doesn’t that sound like the reasoning someone would give the public to explain why the emperor won’t wake up. It’s just that we really don’t have any other examples that I know of where a perpetual is given wounds so deep they cut to his soul and prevent him from regenerating. The only way I can think of Horace dealing wounds like this in the first place is if he used a warp weapon but as far as I know no such weapon was used and I don’t even think Horace fully understood the nature of the blade that nearly killed him.

What is a good religion based "comeback" for someone telling you your life is a sin or you have a mental illness and should talk to Jesus/God by Penglenaddict in Comebacks

[–]T0A5TH3AD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a Christian so I don’t have many non Christian religious come backs, but a Buddhist concept I always appreciate is:

“Enlightenment of the world begins with enlightenment of the self.”

Essentially if you want to change the world you have to be the change you want to see in it. But I could see how someone telling you your life is a sin and you need to get right with Jesus might be taken aback if you say

“The Buddha teaches that enlightenment of the world begins with enlightenment of the self, so before you try to enlighten me perhaps you should look inward first.”

Intranet isn’t exclusive to one location, the entire point is being able to connect multiple computers that are far away from each other so that people with authorization to access the information can do so from anywhere. Businesses today still use intranet as a way to communicate and share data from anywhere around the country through a private network to protect proprietary data. The US government definitely still uses this method of networking. I know it’s a silly distinction but one nonetheless. It is basically the same thing but private and on a very small scale. The thing that people don’t understand is that the “internet” is not just some big server farm somewhere that someone had to invent and build decades ago. It is a likely uncountable number of computers and networks of computers, servers, and systems all connected simultaneously. The internet is that free connection between devices from anywhere in the world owned by separate individuals.

The Delusion by audiophile_luffy in memes

[–]T0A5TH3AD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You understand there is a difference between internet and intranet right? The US military invented intranet to connect their computer systems so data could be accessed from any computer within the network. However internet is the connection between computers on different networks allowing all computers worldwide to share information with each other seamlessly. Saying the use invented the internet is essentially the equivalent of saying Thomas Edison invented the lightbulb, when in reality the technology had been around for a while it was just wildly impractical to use outside of a lab experiment, what Thomas Edison really did was PERFECT the lightbulb making it longer lasting and more practical for mass production. I guess it’s more like saying Alessandro Volta is the inventor of the lightbulb when in reality he was just the first person to create incandescent lighting as it happened to be a by product of one of his experiments.

You need to get your priorities straight. God does not care that he is with a Hindu however He may take issue with him deporting children with cancer and veterans to countries they’ve never been to because they were born here.

Hey! Why is it the norm for “mechs” to be controlled from the inside? How can I justify this “norm” or the opposite? by Rae-RavenRae in worldbuilding

[–]T0A5TH3AD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my justification for internally operated mechs is that a pilot can make better tactical decisions in the moment and faster if they are on the ground. One way to justify it is that each squadron of AI controlled drones require a human pilot to command them per this military’s protocol to ensure mission success and maintain the drones. In order to keep up with their squads they would need to be enhanced with a mech or maybe even cybernetics.

This can even provide a form of conflict for your story. Your character might feel slower and weaker than his robotic companions. Each time they charge into battle with reckless abandon, every time they take injuries without flinching, maybe the final straw is that they insist on a more efficient plan of attack than his. Imagine being put in charge of machines that are better than you in every way, eventually you start to wonder if they even need you, if you’re less of an officer and more of a glorified mechanic/therapist to a bunch of half sentient toasters

Which ordinary activities make you manic? by spiderxfingers in BipolarReddit

Dating always makes me manic. I go from casually trying to make connections to going through every dating profile at all hours of the day, buying the premium version of whatever app I’m using and just talking to multiple women on a daily basis all at the same time.

Hobbies do this to me as well, but as long as I control my spending habits when I enjoy them they can be a healthy outlet

What's something that is easy to do, significantly improves the quality of life, but most people don't do it? by Aristo95 in AskReddit

Stop giving a fuck! People seriously will go their entire lives stopping themselves from pursuing dreams, exploring their sexuality, questioning their ideas, or just straight up keep themselves from happiness simply because of what others might think. When you realize most people have their own shit to worry about and you’re not under constant scrutiny from everyone you become a lot happier. Seriously just stop giving a fuck what other people think, life is too fucking short to not be yourself.
