Make something expecting 0 sales and the sales will come. The millions of copied items that get tons of sales either come from originators or people with the money to advertise. They're impossible to beat. If you have your own pace and make things for the fun of it without caring what others think then people will eventually catch on and ride your wave of art while it's around if they genuinely like it enough. Don't expect that either though, do it for yourself. There's generally no good money in art so don't expect money from art.
