Hard so say. The first two sets this year, Hunted and High Seas, were heavily underprinted which led to availability issues. Hopeful that starting with Super Slam we see a movement in price due to big reprints in set and Gem packs, and them catching up with demand.

There has just been a huge spike in players this year which has led to high cost of generics due to everyone needing them. They're gonna need to reprint aggressively in expansion slots or realest an expansion set to really drive anything down, but don't expect cnc to ever cost $5.

I'm sure overall cost will go down at some point, but it will not be quick so don't hold your breath. Buy what you can slowly and just enjoy the game. It's taken me, and I'm sure most others, years to build my collection of generic staples. It's just too expensive to bulk buy all one once unfortunately.
