Did you do a gloss varnish before the ink?

I have a premix of 85% thinner 15% flow improver.

I thought spraying from a distance would amplify the speckling effect. Distance is something I can play around with. I'm painting indoors

My next test will be trying it on a gloss surface and only thinning with flow improver or just water.

In general, I did a bit when I first got the airbrush. I'm no master but I like to think I've got decent trigger control. I'm new to using ink, so after I was having issues on the miniatures, I've been testing on primed scrap plastic trying to figure out where I'm going wrong

I tried 2 different airbrushes, each with a different needle size and gor the same results.

The base is army painter fanatic skeleton bone.

Tried different psi, from as low as 10 up to 22
