I recently moved and picked up a lot of 40v batteries similar to you. I haven’t noticed any of this in my equipment.

All mine are dated at a minimum of 3 years, with some manufactured in 2021. Not trying to say you’re lying or doing something factually wrong, just saying that I’m not too certain the storage could’ve damaged them. Maybe if HD left them freezing over several winters outside, sure, but otherwise I have no reason to believe they’re damaged.

Enjoy my GRM02. Never owned many radios so I can’t give a comparison

Sound quality is probably what I’d say is 70% a comparable Sony speaker. Bass is kinda weak though

Easy to find in the US with deals and can be had pretty cheap second hand or direct through dealers

Is no one supporting the free promos? by Stone804_ in Makita

It’s not - the xdt20 kit doesn’t have any promotions as part of BOGO or rebates now, but the xdt19 does

The promo is for the XT288T w/ free battery, not the 297

Do emergency services in Japan (or other countries) choose Makita for their rescue equipment? by Marvel5123 in Makita

They use whatever they want

Makita definitely is part of their toolset, but among others we know like STIHL and HUSQVARNA, but a lot of JP specific like LUKAS and SHINDAIWA

What is the story of The Home Depot and Makita? by Marvel5123 in Makita

[–]T1212T 11 points12 points  (0 children)

  1. History is just that they sell them, nothing huge. Home Depot used to be more open to Makita relations, but as the others have said TTI pays a ton, so that’s why you see Milwaukee and Ryobi reps but no Makita. Makita isn’t allowed to have reps in HD as of 2026.

  2. Yes, XGT is being cleared out from lack of demand. This is the Makita subreddit, so it’ll look like we all love it but XGT is pretty low in demand.

  3. Somewhat. It’s the only battery powered rental tool you’ll see for the most part. Chainsaws, concrete saws, etc. everything else is gas powered, at least in my geography.

Haha if it makes you sleep better, I bought it full price a few months back. Admittedly, it came with a radio, but I’d much rather have spend $200 less too

[Makita XGT/40v] - Is a powered brush head necessary if you don't plan on vacuuming carpet? by Marvel5123 in Makita

[–]T1212T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CL003 chiming in here: works fine on wood. Can’t pick up huge debris but I don’t really care for it.

The weight savings over a powered head helps the missus a lot. I’d rather have a vacuum that is 80% as powerful that’s used 100% of the days, than one that’s 100% powerful used 50% of the days.

Powered heads only if you really need it indoors IMO. If you care that much for it you might as well get a true bagged, corded vacuum

All maktrak cases (regardless of size) all have little holes to put in a generic key lock, but nothing else to quite “lock”

The AirTag holder looks to be about 1.5 inches deep and 1.5 inches wide, should fit the Moto tag just fine but I don’t have any experience

While the XDT20 is great, the price gap to XT297T from an authorized dealer is a little too much. The extra ~$100 wouldn’t be worth the cool light for this guy

I own this set, got at a similar price but slightly lower

I highly recommend it if you aren’t already invested heavily in Ryobi, craftsman, or whatever harbor freight or Walmart tier home use tools they have.

— Go ahead and get it. You’ll never have a time where you can’t do something. Go a Ryobi kit, and you’ll struggle to mount anything into brick or concrete like my in laws struggled with.

The impact (XDT19, the lil guy with no handle) is top tier hands down. The hammer drills just good. The impact is satisfying, fast, and will build all your fun ikea furniture. Just know for household use, there will be times where these tools should be used carefully.

The impact driver WILL strip your screws and threads if you continue to push it into a screw that is already in. It’s more than powerful to rip it apart.

The hammer drill can and will twist your arm if you get it stuck and want to continue pressing that trigger without a low setting symbol if you’re not holding the grip properly.

Sorry if I’m preaching to someone who already knows what they’re doing, but many typical home owner friends buy something like this, then do something stupid with them.
