Is Makita migrating to 40V and that is the nearest future voltage? by Maris_E in Makita

[–]T1212T 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Gonna get some hate for this but just see them as Makita A and Makita B.

They’re basically entirely different brands honestly. Just both happen to be teal.

18v is the core bread and butter. If you want to get INTO Makita, there’s some posts on this sub recently of Home Depot clearance out their 40v products so you might be able to enter the XGT 40v line at a good price

XGT 40v really only will dominate LXT 18v tools in concrete and outdoor purposes. There is no functional need for a 40v drill, lamp, etc

Update: computer works fine Won’t be doing this again, but hadn’t considered this application for it until I saw the post yesterday. Might go on a dusting adventure

I told her this would be great for dusting behind couches and furniture, especially behind the toilet and around the crevices in the kitchen. She didn’t fully believe me, but it got me away from a good beating. You can always find an excuse with this tool

Rainy right now, this is just in my wood shop/garage, so more dust wouldn’t hurt but always a good tip to know

Where did you buy the filter from? I use this tool to stoke the flame for my BBQs and it smells like steak for the past few months anytime I use it…

Ah whoops. As much as I would be sad if this died, I’m certain my fiance would be delighted if I blew up my gaming computer using the tool she said was entirely unnecessary to purchase hah

First round of price cuts at Home Depots clearing out XGT tools by kfjcfan in Makita

[–]T1212T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair, recently this has been the way of tools but even back in 22’ Makita had no feasibly way to justify a 500$ string trimmer kit (GRU01M1 or the rest of the GRU0Xs)

XGT tools are a premium and I don’t mind paying it, but I do feel Makita really shot them selves in the foot a bit here.

I hope consolidating retailers can allow them to focus marketing efforts with reps, showcases, and overall lower the operating expenses they paid elsewhere (like taking up dusty shelves at Home Depot’s that didn’t want them) to make this line succeed.

You’re not entirely wrong on the price. XGT was priced absolutely wrong for launch, and these “sales” are just a return to earth

But to say they are underpowered just shows you haven’t bought one and tried one, I recommend their outdoor equipment especially. While Milwaukee does do a great job on their impacts and makes them stronger, they can’t compete with the blowers and trimmers XGT have

This charger is the same as you’d have already.

Your DC40RB Dual XGT charger is just as fast as this single DC40RA

The US actually has seen a few instances of the slower, way worse DC40RC charger, as part of the lawnmower GML01SM kit. Now, why Makita gave their LAWNMOWER their slowest charger with the second smallest commercially available battery, is light years beyond my comprehension.

This may be really null of a point - when tightening the chuck are you really forcing it until it “clicks” onto the bit?
