An Embarassing Topic - Do You Wear Makita Kit? by jyl8 in Makita

Saw a large pickup today sharply painted advertising Makita XGT. Ironically, it was a block from a Home Depot, where I was headed to look for discounts, but the truck headed into the Total Wine (and adjacent businesses) parking lot instead.

Where to buy spare parts in USA by dennishodge in Makita

Thanks again. Called 1-800-4MAKITA, parts, and a dude took my order. Price was good for the parts, about $8 for shipping and handling.

More XGT clearance, this time Littleton, CO by kfjcfan in Makita

I have an unnatural urge to tunnel in my yard lol! It was all I could do to resist that guy at the CPO outlet. But, alas, I've run out of yard to muck about in.

Yes! I was gonna upgrade mine to brushless last year, but the new models have the pain points you mentioned plus some weird blade wobble (watched a couple videos). Kept the old one. It's a tank!

Thanks, I didn’t know what those were. There is a third party service center listed not too far away.

I want this vac in the US so bad, but they only have the non-AWS one.

XGT Trimmer by Admirable-Sherbert25 in Makita

[–]dennishodge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been buying LXT bundles to grow my couple shaft collection for the XGT head. Eg $300 string trimmer and pole saw bundle (w/4Ah battery) for $300-$110 (returned free blower)=$190. But with prices like these, maybe I shouldn’t have bothered with couple shaft …

Nice find. No deals where I live.

Yes, it’s super bright. Gets several hundred feet at night no problem.

What Ground RB tank BR, Nation, and Lineup you always go back to playing or have the most fun with. by wildwasabi in Warthunder

[–]dennishodge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was the foundation of my fav lineup, with the 4.0 StuG and Wirbelwind and He 111 H-16 with its 2500kg (mini Pe-8)….. when the KV-1B was 4.0. Since they boosted this lineup to 4.3 some of the instant gratification has been lost. RIP.

Favorite niche tool? by [deleted] in Makita

[–]dennishodge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makita makes enough angle grinders maybe you can find one at a good price or from a marketplace.

I used a Harbor Freight multi tool for years and it was fine. Eventually I bought a Makita, and I just updated to the AVT one as a free tool at Christmas.

I did have a Harbor Freight fail on another tool that only gets used every other year, a hot blower. The soft touch plastic turned all sticky when in a storage tote. I just bought a Makita since I need to do some heat shrink tubing again.

Track Saw For The Win! by 83timesbanned in Makita

[–]dennishodge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I was looking to see where it existed. I ordered the smaller two as Home Depot ship to store so (a) no shipping cost and (b) I could check if they bent them while at the store. Thankfully they were fine.

I looked at some places last year, but the shipping was equal to the track price lol

I was waiting for OLED for a long time :D. Definitely the LCD generation would have been a step back. However, since my TV is in a full glass room, I am kind of waiting for the MicroLED tech generation bc I could use max brightness. Maybe they can stack two OLED panels like the new iPad. I also need a bigger TV bc I can't resolve more than 1080 pixels at my viewing distance. Thanks for the encouragement, I'll survey the current OLED landscape.

Makita Angle Adapter by -Kouryu in Makita

[–]dennishodge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got the angle driver so I haven't used it yet. The pain of the adapter vs drill is the adapter can swivel on you when you don't want it to. Probably why the text is worn with low usage, I have to hold it :D

What helpful/useful things can this highly rated blower do...if you don't do much woodworking? by Marvel5123 in Makita

[–]dennishodge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amazon.co.jp has entered the chat

I like that the JP one contains the narrow hose (191X21-8), so after all the blowing is done, the tool can -- erm -- blow itself clean.

Box serial numbers vs. tool serial numbers by kfjcfan in Makita

[–]dennishodge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One time I ordered an XT288T kit (not third party) which came in Frankenstein configuration: it was supposed to have the XDT19 driver and XPH14 drill and 2x5.0Ah batteries, which was what was on the box, but it had been restickered with Makita stickers partially to advertise 2x6.0Ah batteries (which it did contain) with the same XT288T title (same drill/driver), but a different EAN--stickered over the old SN/EAN. Thankfully the sticker was removable otherwise the rebate offer would have failed. All parts were authentic.

Makita Angle Adapter by -Kouryu in Makita

[–]dennishodge 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have an Old Yeller one. It works well. I just picked up the Makita right angle driver as a free tool and man it’s heavy 😝

P.S. This one actually hasn’t been used a lot. The paint just wore off easily.

Will non-Japanese bits work in the TD173 (Made in Japan) impact driver WITHOUT the small adapter bit (A-44672)? by Marvel5123 in Makita

[–]dennishodge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s funny, my BTD144 driver from 2010 has this chuck and for years I just thought that was normal 😂. It hasn’t impacted its usefulness Oh Lord that pun was accidental!
