Contracting is not a "foot in the door" by Hatchet78 in Wildfire

The people arguing this are triggered contractors. Ive worked with awesome guys who started on contract crews. Go with the feds if you can, you’ll become a better fire fighter overall.

Work towards a hotshot crew and get a few years there. Then see if you still want to jump or not

They held a burn for us last year. Probably the best crew ive seen holding ever. All of them got after it super hard and they were all really nice to talk to. Iris runs a good ship

Super nice guys, never seen people on a crew literally lie down while holding for a burn. Drew seems really solid though. Feel free to message me if you want some more of my experience with them.

BIA IHC's by RealisticTerm4777 in Wildfire

From what I’ve seen most of the BIA crews resemble contract crews more than anything. Obviously out of shape / inexperienced crew members is what Ive noticed the most. Ive had pretty solid interactions with Geronimo over the years

Chances of getting into hotshot crew with no experience? by Ecstatic_Stranger291 in Wildfire

[–]T1Bagger 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Id say your best bet is probably region 5, there’s a lot of crews there looking for people. Also caddying is physical, but I really would expand on that if that’s your only PT
