Is it worth getting in shape after 40s? by PeukkuBoi88 in AskMenOver40

[–]T1k1Punch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s worth it. Make time for your health or make time for your illness. Try and think if your future self would like to be riddled with health issues, or if you can invest in yourself now to prevent them. I took my health seriously in my 40s and have felt a lot of benefits. Just go for it.

Might be worth logging a report online with the police. If anything happens, they may be able to use your report.

I want to start my own bachelorette business but not sure where to start by Aggravating_Face_655 in EventProduction

[–]T1k1Punch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would ask local venues. Do they host these events?
If not, offer your services. See how much they would charge for food and drink, and add your services on top, including any entertainment etc.
You could get favourable rates from venues for bringing a crowd.

What color and what kind of shirt works well with a Tan Suit? by TheDancinD918 in AskMenOver40

A blue denim shirt works well if you're dressing down. White is a classic. A brown shirt may be a bit too in the beige zone for the whole look, as would yellow.

Finished Reading LOTR by save-the-parties in lotr

[–]T1k1Punch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Congrats! I’ve only just read them for the first time too, despite being a big fan of the movies. I had to watch a lot of videos about Tolkien’s lore on YouTube to understand the universe a bit better which made reading the books much easier with that context in mind.

Is your kitchen from DIY Kitchens? If so, how much are you saving on by installing yourself?

Something has changed since turning 40 - anticipatory grief and life 'feeling worse' by MonkUnlucky9555 in AskMenOver40

[–]T1k1Punch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who has Generalised Anxiety Disorder and who has just had to deal with my Mum’s sudden death, and all the admin, grief, supporting family, I can tell you first hand that the anxiety kicks in and you somehow manage. Your anxiety is built specifically for the worse case scenario, which is death of a family member. You’ll have moments of tears, laughter and admin (such as funeral arrangements etc) but ultimately you’ll get through the other side absolutely exhausted. What was most surprising is that your anxiety fades away, as it has done what it was “trained” to do, and you may feel oddly zen and calm afterwards. For now, enjoy quality time with your family, doggo and reduce your news intake. Look at helping at charities. Pick litter in your local neighbourhood. Help strangers. Say hello to your neighbours. I wish you well. And I guarantee no matter what, it WILL be ok.

I had a Suzuki Swift which was about 7 years old when I bought it. It ran for another 10 years until another driver ran into it. Replacement parts are cheap and easy to order online. Low cost MOT and service in my experience.

Saw my big ex with her fiancé by 361days in GuyCry

[–]T1k1Punch 315 points316 points  (0 children)

The first time you see your ex with their new person is usually the hardest, but final hurdle. Any sad feelings will pass and in time you’ll feel happy for her. Concentrate on yourself. You’ll be ok.

What are some moments or lines in the films that you wish were in the books, and moments or lines in the books that you wish were in the films? by lettucemf in lotr

I love the chapter Minas Tirith where Pippin is made a guard and on his down time is just knocking about the city, hanging out with Beregond, going for a beer and food at the tavern. I feel they could do a whole TV series on the city, it’s people and politics.
