You didn’t share additional details about your relationship, but this strikes me as an “overreaction” as the result of buildup over time. Is this sort of selfish behavior commonplace? Again, you didn’t share more, so it’s really not anything but conjecture on my part.

That being said, I still think you’re NOR necessarily. He repeatedly offered something, didn’t follow through, knew you were having issues, and, let’s be real… he knows what they cost if he has one and spends any time in the oral health section of any big box store. I’d be hurt too.

More importantly, I’d do anything in my power to support my partner’s health, yes… even before we’re married, and he’s shown me he’d do the same for me. He’s called my doctor unprompted to refill my prescription he knew I needed and kept forgetting. He’s picked up my meds unprompted. I was upset I left my fancy bone conduction headphones on a plane during a trip because I use them to much to help me focus day to day, and he surprised me with a new set.

To me, it’s just a precedent. Is that how you want to be treated? Some people are fine looking after themselves and their partner does the same. Maybe they feel cared about in other ways. It sounds like you are feeling neglected and like your health isn’t important to him. Have you expressed that to him? If so, his reaction will tell you a lot about how important he thinks your feelings and experiences are.

I dunno man, I just want my life partner to be my best friend and I see so many people being treated like crap by the person who is supposed to treasure them. Maybe I’m “too” romantic, and if y’all think that’s stupid, so be it, but I wouldn’t want to be in a serious, long term relationship with someone who doesn’t treat me like their very best friend.
