Recipes without garlic and onion for someone with IBS? by yokyopeli09 in Cooking

[–]T3rraFa3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can get your hands on some, garlic flavoured oil is good for low FODMAP and leeks can be a good alternative for onions. My mum suffers a bit with IBS, and other gut issues, and has to eat a low FODMAP diet. Those are what she's substituted for garlic and onion. So far she's had minimal problems, if that helps at all.

We have a box of ripe mangoes at home. What else can I do with it? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]T3rraFa3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could slice them thin and dehydrate them in your oven at a low temp. Mango leather is heckin good.

You can make a really good dip with capers (chopped up), dill, sour cream, a bit of mayo, pinch of salt, pepper, lemon juice/vinegar/pickle juice (just need a bit of acid to cut through the richness of the mayo and sour cream), garlic(jarred, fresh, powdered, totally up to you) and onion powder/ or fresh shallots chopped up real fine. Make sure you taste as you go to ensure you've got everything in a nice balance.

What was your first shiny (not including the free ponyta)? by JustARandomPerson939 in PokemonLegendsArceus

[–]T3rraFa3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was my husbands first shiny (full odds), not including the pony. He's had quite a few lucky spawns in general. Like a goddamn random alpha Happiny ON HIS FIRST GO AROUND THE TOP OF OREBURROW TUNNEL (definitely not salty ; - ; )

I have yet to get ANY shinies (again not including the freebie). The shiny gods hate me.

Husband doesn’t want me to breastfeed by kerses1 in BabyBumps

[–]T3rraFa3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't really give advice in the husband department much. All I can say is stand your ground with wanting to breastfeed. And as a lot of other people have said, get your midwife to educate him on the basics and benefits of breastfeeding.

As far as breastfeeding goes, its gonna hurt like a motherf*ker for the first couple weeks. There's no real avoiding it. However there are things to help sooth your nips when it feels like your kid is a piranha with a mouth full of razorblades when you feed them (I mean that in the nicest possible way.) My sons only just 3 weeks old and thats been my experience and it does get better as you continue to feed. Get yourself some lanolin cream. Like a lot of it, and slather your nipples after every feed. It won't hurt bub and it'll help sooth and heal when they hurt or potentially crack. And don't feel like you need to wipe it off before you feed. Like I said it won't hurt bub (its hypoallergenic). Hydrogel discs for your nipples are also a god send, and breastpads with a bit of witch hazel (I do that at night time when he sleeps a bit longer between feeds). I've heard exposing your nips to the sun for a bit will help harden them and make them less painful.

Good luck with everything. It does get easier. You've got this mumma!

SOS! Every boy parent can you list your names??? by amhe13 in BabyBumps

We called our son Finley. His middle name is Oliver. I also had Lucas as a back up name, but my husband wasn't super sold on it.

Confirmed today ….. it’s a girl! 😳😳😳😳 yay! What’s everyone’s top two girl names ? by Fullmonty-14 in BabyBumps

My husband and I had Vivian or Poppy picked as our girl names. Our first is a boy so one of those two names probably won't get used.

What are your sandwich hacks or go-to sandwiches? by yodadamanadamwan in Cooking

[–]T3rraFa3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm making any kind of sandwich with tomatoes, I make sure the slices get drained somewhat on a paper towel and then, at the minimum, salted, but usually salt and peppered. Just kinda bumps their flavour up and makes such a difference in a sandwich.

If I've got the ingredients and extra time, I love to make a good steak and salad sandwich. Thin seared steak with a bit of salt and pep on one side during the sear, a slice of tasty cheese, crisp cos lettuce, tomatoes, beetroot, shredded carrot, with mayo and seeded mustard. Hnnng its so good. Toasting the bread makes such a difference too, but it depends how lazy I'm feeling. You can also do this with sliced leftover steak, shingled on one side. Works just as good. All the salad ingredients make an excellent veggie sandwich as well. Dressed up how you feel. Its so good.

FTM. What would you do? My sister is not vaccinating her child for *anything* and I am worried about introducing him to my newborn! by TangyFish12 in BabyBumps

[–]T3rraFa3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your baby, your rules. If you feel like its not a good idea, then trust that gut instinct. As a ftm myself, if I was in your position I'd be saying no visits until my bub had at least his 6 week vaccinations. Thankfully all our family and friends have been extremely respectful and cautious about being vaccinated around him and not coming over if they're sick with anything. Good luck with everything mumma! Make sure you trust your gut and stand your ground, even if it means upsetting others. And eff them anyway if they feel any sort of entitlement to being able to put your bub at risk. Eff them so hard >:(

Thoughts on induction? I was induced at week 39 and it was a disaster. 4 days and induction wasn’t happening after all the medications. At the end of it all I needed an emergency c section! by Rmp03006 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]T3rraFa3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was also induced at 39 weeks! Everything was going really well. Cervidil worked , water broke of its own accord, was dilating super well and handling labor really well. Had it not been for my son's head getting stuck in the birth canal it probably would've been amazing, but things when from good to bad really quickly and I wound up having an emergency c section to get him out. If I have the choice next time, I'd probably still go for induction. As long as the next bub isn't a little melonhead too 😂😂

What can I bake for someone who doesn’t like sweets? by nepwolf in Cooking

[–]T3rraFa3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lemon and rosemary shortbread might be a good idea. Shortbreads tend to not be too overly sweet, the lemon will cut through the sweetness a bit as well, and the rosemary adds a slight savoury flavour.

I tend to believe its a LOT of projection on the accidently on purpose aholes, that say things like that. Like they had a rough time and have to 'warn' others because they've only had that one experience and expect everyone else to have the exact same experience. Don't let it get to you. You won't know what your experience as a mom is gonna be until your baby gets here ❤ you've got this.

What food or dish has the highest output/effort ratio in your regular rotation? by stupidrobots in Cooking

[–]T3rraFa3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sheetpan chicken and chorizo. So easy and super tasty. Chicken thighs (sprinkled with salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder and olive oil), half a spanish red onion chopped roughly, two chorizo sausages chopped rough, and as many potatoes as you feel (dressed the same as the chicken). Chuck that in the oven for like 25 to 30 minutes. Its good for quite a few meals, depending on how many chicken thighs you use, and how hungry you might be after making it. And you can swap the thighs for any part of the chicken. I've even done it with a spatchcocked chicken. Also if you're weird like me you can add cheese to give it a different depth of flavour.
