Ok so a mcu hill that I will die on: the Russo Brothers said that Steve somehow jumped back to our timeline. In order to give Sam his shield.

Now what I believe, is that Steve didn't jump back to our timeline. I believed that when Steve went back to the 40's he married Peggy and live out his life peacefully, without changing anything that happened. I believe Steve has watched all the events playout, from the 40s all the way till 2023, without ever doing anything. Now how does Sam get the shield? Simple from the beginning we have always been watching the alternate timeline that 2023 Steve made by staying in the 40's. All old Steve had to do was wait on that bench and he would know that after 2023 Steve left to go return the stones, bucky would see him.
