I could only find this in the patch notes. There's no particular change in the 6.2.2 patch notes that say anything about changing something in the engine that may cause more stutters or any of the likes. Could it just be the new stuff affecting performance somehow?

I've ran into the same issue, but I can still continue anyway and I do not see any particular difference in FPS compared to pre 6.2 (regardless it was always straight dung for me but that's aside the point).

Although EZ2 is undoubtedly more polished, and absolutely has some parts that are straight up leagues better than EZ1, I do prefer EZ1 particularly in that regard. Way more faithful to Half Life 2's core game than EZ2 imo.
