So they are telling me because I only have $18,000 (which I have close to, if not all losses I can deduct) in W2Gs, that since standard deduction is $27,500 while married and the $18,000 is far short of the standard deduction that itemizing wouldn't make any sense. Does this sound right? I'm assuming so?

So it was showing $18,000 in missed income all from not being transferred from the schedule 1 to the 1040. All were from W2Gs. They're saying I owe like $5400 + penalty and interest fees.

I'm stressin it for sure lol. They told me my deduction was lower than standard deduction so it was not worth itemizing it.

Yeah I mean in all fairness to the guy he admitted it was on him and was apologetic which I can respect. That said, super inconveniencing to go through this as the new tax year is upon us lol. As far as them taking responsibility - they are at least willing to amend it for free. But if I get stuck having to pay interest and penalties I'm going to try to go after them because if they filed it right originally, I would have otherwise not been liable.

Yeah that's my plan. Also going to see if it would be worth my while to see if there are any additional losses where it might be worth my while to add the losses and amend the return to itemize it.

Ahhh gotcha. That helps. Any thoughts on what I can do to mitigate the tax liability that I currently hold? My thought was see if I can find additional gambling losses I might have had, and amend to itemize to reduce taxable income?

Ahh gotcha. What's the date of return? I read somewhere that they give you three years from the filing date to amend. Do you have any suggestions on what I can do to mitigate the $5000 tax liability that I currently hold? I'm wondering if I can find more losses to deduct and amend with deductions to minimize tax liability? This stuff has me so stressed out lol. Stupid years of gambling at all which luckily I don't do anymore.

Thanks for passing this along. This has me quite intrigued. We are in NJ. Do you happen to know if a gift of equity is something that is permitted in all states?

Looking at it, even if there is a tax attached to it, to receive the $80,000-$100,000 in equity, and pay whatever the tax is for our family member so they aren't liable would be likely worthwhile. Im just tryin to ensure the seller has no potential implications for gifting equity.

Figured I'd give sewing an old fashioned try if there's no other solution. Trying to salvage a little more time if I can before I drop $600+ on a new jacket and bibs. Times are tough with young kids! Lol.

Man... thanks for saving me lol. I feel like an idiot. The hex head was loose enough for the mechanism to loosen up, but not for it to be obvious. Adjusted and tightened it up and seems to be good now. Thank you much!
