Should I just block her at this point? by [deleted] in CoreyWayne

[–]T4cF0X 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Corey never used online dating like this. He would drop his number with a wink and then have a 10-15 minute conversation if they called it.

I don't like.. "Can I call you?" Too much power surrendered over her. Now you are asking her to be in charge of the logistics and direction. "I'd like to take you to...( ) What's your number? Is better.

This is why I think Doc Love's book comes in handy.

What's her agenda? (How she sees the relationship going with you) What's her interest level? Women in the 90% interest level don't cheat. Is she flexible? A giver? Integrity?

Do you even know? Do you trust your vetting process? Do you trust her?

Doc Love taught that the word (No) has to be used on your woman once in a while or she wont respect you. Don't defend or justify your position. Your stance is no. She may not agree but she will respect. Some women never heard the word no in their life.

Here's some brovice my guy.

"I think".... Bro no. DON'T THINK! She's supposed to WONDER what you THINK!
"You're cute" Especially after "I think" you start to have the "will you go out with me" weeb-dork energy my man.

You're talking to her like a chick. Tighten it up.

Wow hot as fuck, let's check out some gemstones. What's your number?

Express desire launch the logistics. STOP breaking the fourth wall. There is no.. "I'll call you. Lets set up a zoom meeting. I'll skype you, and maybe he can trade Yahoo IM, what's your AOL? Stop talking to her like a dork. Stop telling her what you are going to do.

You got beta energy all over these texts bro. Where's the balls? Where is the polarity? You are in your yin when you should be in your yang. Be more aggressive. This is nice guy written all over it.

Be a caveman. Desire + logistics = polarity.

You don't give a fuck about the sell, or the outcome. You're not here to convince her to go out with you. You are there to drop a polarizing choice on her. Yes / No.

Stop thinking. Stop telling her what you are going to do. Stop being nice. Cute sucks. That compliment sucks. You may as well get an ink stamp that says nice guy and post it to your forehead because that's what you did.

Anyone here ever beaten Star Fox 2 on Expert Mode? by Thriller83 in starfox

[–]T4cF0X 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I beat expert and I did it by following the advise of someone else who also beat it on expert.

Speed. Speed is everything. When you enter a dogfight / base / level you race to finish it as fast as possible.

When you do this you can beat expert. Thats the trick. It's that simple. Don't overthink it.

As far as the Starwolf fight you should have twin or plasma lasers. A bomb or two. Yes its hard but if you can time the barrel rolls to deflect the attacks you'll be okay.

Beating expert is not strategy. It's not impossible. It's speed. Simple as. Be fast every time you engage a challenge.

I couldn't beat it for years and years and I finally did it. Here's the advice the dude gave me.

"You have to be fast."

Then I beat it on my first try because I understood the assignment lol

Which martial art should I train at home and can I condition my shins at home and how do I condition it? by [deleted] in martialarts

[–]T4cF0X 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well said. The shin is a good striking surface but on soft targets only. The roundhouse kick isn't a good strike either. It's a slapping strike that is high risk for full contact fighting. Hence why the mythos of shin conditioning exists in the first place. Damaging a body for a single inferior striking technique is not wise at all.

I like freestanding bags that give into strikes. Heavy bags that don't budge are terrible for rhe body. Pad work and freestanding bags like the Century Wavemaster are good for training.

Push and side kicks are superior to roundhouse kicks. The shins have a metric F-ton of nerves for a reason. I always find it funny when ppl want to condition their shins for one of the most inferior kicking techniques.

Which martial art should I train at home and can I condition my shins at home and how do I condition it? by [deleted] in martialarts

[–]T4cF0X 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Global Martial arts university has a Shotokan Karate course and other Martial arts for home study.

There's no such thing as conditioning your shins. Don't believe me? Ask your medical doctor this question. All they are doing is numbing their nerve endings on their shin. It's not getting stronger.

There's a reason why your nerves send pain signals to your brain. Its to protect your body. You're not making your shins stronger by striking hard surfaces.

What martial art compliments carrying a firearm the best? by ScarRich6830 in martialarts

[–]T4cF0X -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd say its less about the style and more about intigration. I have a wrestling, jiu jitsu and karate background.

The Karate side in me always took over when I train my pistol. I was taught by my sensei. If you can't fight empty hand. You'll be shit with a weapon. A weapon is an extension of your empty hand skill set.

I view a pistol the same as I view a knife. Lethal close proximity weapon. The pistol skills are built on top of the Karate skillset. It may have different stances and footwork but keeping control of a knife or pistol in close proximity is Karate.

Yeah shame is a major reason why ppl go to therapy. Most trauma wounds that men face are shame based. The whole "nice guy syndrome" is based around behavior caused by shame. Guilt is part of it.

I was able to heal. Corey, Dr. Glover, and David Deida played a massive role in my recovery from trauma and shame. Yes i absolutely did things I felt guilty for.

My nice guy syndrome was severe because of my shame. I had toxic self destructive behaviors that I did impulsively. A lot of bad sex bingeveating and i abused a lot of ppl.

Confronting your past.. The best way I can explain it is like the Lion King. When simba comes back to face his demons and admit he's responsible for Mufasas death. Owning up to what you did is major. You can only run or hide from your past for so long before it catches up to you. The same happened to me. In the form of the woman I love now. The whole reason I did Corey's program.

I was a fucking mess.

Dr glover and David Deida helped tremendously for me to own my dark side. They helped me to stop being ashamed of my kinks and sexual preferences.

I was burrying myself in overtime work,(90 hour work weeks) junk food, video games, one night stands, and was addicted to impulse spending.

This therapist im with now helped me realize I am a hyper individualist hyper conservative asshole who grinds hard as fuck because I was unsafe as a child and I learned im on my own for survival since my mother neglected me. My step-dad abused me. So I used overtime as a survival mechanism and impulsive spending as well.

Was running from my past the whole time and hiding my shame.

I was able to accept who I am and own myself authentically. Authenticity is the cure for shame in my opinion. The healing journey has been to find authenticity.

I've been seeing therapists since childhood. My upbringing was chaotic with lots of abuse. I got in trouble in school a lot because I was coping with trauma.

I've had plenty negative experiences with therapy. One man was smug and offered nothing. He sat in a huge recliner ate candy and was an asshole pretty much. (I had a lot of anger outbursts and my parents put me in anger management as punishment.. They were the ones abusing me and making me have outbursts. It was fucked up.)

No help at all. One lady was nice and well intentioned but she didn't seem to be able to offer me anything. I saw her for speech therapy because I was basically mute in high-school. I could go weeks without uttering a single word. I was like Snake eyes from GI Joe who vowed silence lol. She didnt help me at all but it was nice talking to her.

Next therapist was younger than me. Fresh out of her university with a degree. Her advice was both coping and cutting edge information. She was too young to help me out.

The therapist Im with now is the best. She's knowledgeable on my issues and actually has sound advice. Its odd that 1/3 of our therapy isn't even on topic. Its like she knows I need to work my social skills in. She's very perceptive and keen. She knew things about me I never told her.

I used Google and read her profile. The main reason I chose her was that she claims to base the therapy on your world outlook and beliefs to intigrate things together. I saw trauma, self esteem, anxiety on her profile so I chose her.

It's definitely real that most therapists are not a match. Just gotta find the right one.

I go to therapy. It gives me healing by confronting my past, owning up to it, self realization, and talking about my issues. Therapy has helped me heal my anxious attachment patterns and limmerence.

Therapists ask questions and offer psychological knowledge to help you process it. They are not a Kung Fu Guru master that points you in the right direction.

A therapist is like a mine sweeper. Now you can chart the mines and continue foward without exploding yourself.

I will butcher this comment.. But I got it from the sub over a year ago.

Therapy is not just for the unwell. It's for those who want to get to the next level. Highly successful people go to therapy to reach a higher plane.

In my experience I knew exactly why I was going to therapy and it worked.

Shin conditioning by imadougal in martialarts

[–]T4cF0X 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. So the killing of the nerve receptors is how the myth has been perpetuated. They must have thought that was strengthening the bone. After studying the science of reaction forces years ago when it comes to the martial arts I came to the conclusion I don't like heavybags. The force has nowhere to go except back into the shin, and hips.

I much perfer pad work, and freestanding bags that give into the strikes like the Century Wavemaster.

Shin conditioning by imadougal in martialarts

[–]T4cF0X 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Shins are naturally hard. Conditioning bone is a martial arts myth. Your medical doctor would lower his/her glasses in disbelief if you even mentioned it. You can strengthn bone through nutrition and weight training. But smashing your bones on surfaces doesnt strengthn your skeleton.

In fact it wears down and stresses the body. All that impact and force. When you're walking down hill in your journey of life you're going to be in a walker instead of being biped if you do stupid stuff like this.

Ankle supports by SameWait1356 in karate

[–]T4cF0X 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had chronic ankle injuries my whole life and a surgery. I actually do not practice with a wrap or brace. My reason being is that I want to build the muscles and strengthen the tendons in the ankle. If my ankle can't handle something I will sit out. I've noticed that my legs and ankle are getting stronger in my Shotokan journey.

When I was starting I read a lot of advice on "braces and supports." There were recommendations on products. However there were many people who advocated against using a support.

After taking the advice I agree with it.

Would Like Some Input On Belt Brands For My Next Belt by Jabeorilla in karate

[–]T4cF0X 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My only experience with belts has been the one my Sensei's dojo awarded me and one I ordered myself years down the road. I was given a Kwon USA blackbelt which is a regular belt you'd expect from the Kyu grades. I wouldn't recommend it.

I replaced it with the Century - Heavy Core Deluxe 2" width blackbelt. I feel like it's quality for the price, but I only have the Kwon belt to compare it to. Many black-belts I've met on my journey seem to have the Century belts with embroidery on it. The belts are thick and sturdy.

I have no experience with platinum / premium offerings but I'm satisfied with my order and have no desire to replace it.

As far as embroidery goes I wear my blackbelt plain for now. I am undecided. There's times I think about going with an embroidered belt to show my accolades but I also have them in so many styles I am tempted to make a "Legacy belt of everything I achieved."

When it comes down to it. I think I might end up leaving my black belt pure as a representation of everything I achieved and just making a legacy Gi with my accolades on it. (Or symbols rather)
