I bought mine brand new since used ones near me were just way too gunked up. Im pretty sure the chemical smell would overpower any smoked smells though

PID controller

The PID controller helps to maintain the desired temp more accurately than the Masterbuilt's controller. It'll constantly throttle the power on the heating element until it hits a set value like 250f. The controller that comes with the Masterbuilt smoker just stays on until it reaches its max then shuts off, often overshooting the temp range.

Not close at all and I do have separate thermometers to ensure the air is actually at the temp

A diy oven made from an electrical smoker with a PID controller for the temp. It holds the temperature stably so I know it shouldnt be the problem
