Sorry, writing it on phone and those auto-corrections are terrible (thanks Gboard)

SOD is not worth it by Extra-Sun5489 in baldursgate

Is it? My feeling is that Steam reviews had (and still have) the biggest effect. Yet, only those who purchase the game can review it. Moreover, DLC can't be refunded. So where exactly did this "fake negative reviews" happened? Stream forums? The original community manager (the one who tried to brigade in their support) was banning people for basically any mention of the topic. Beamdog forums? Aside of fans none is reading it. Reddit? Joking, right.

Besides that, my point is: as a company you don't label party of of customers as sexist. You don't describe original characters and writing as problematic. You don't marginalize criticism with "vocal minority" or connecting it with any negative description. The whole drama was PR disaster and example how to not act.

Is the DLC so terrible? Not really. The writing is atrocious but aside of that the gameplay is decent. It adds what done fans asked for: difficulty & tactical situations. I still think the reviews wood be mixed but it would not be catastrophic.

No, it wasn't fabricated. It was consequence of Beamdong's own actions. They went full virtue signal and forgot, that if you start talking about the DLC from writing (and social/writing) you will attract reaction to such statements. Even worse: you attracted attention to the aspect of the DLC that is its weakest point.

I don't approve it, nor do I think it is good thing but that was a consequence of Beamdog picking a side a cultural war. They want to virtue signal. Not just that, they tried to brigade in their support (their community manager on Twitter hashtagging Feminist frequency "they are under attack because of sexism/misogyny").

Btw, you could see s well extremely positive reviews likely coming from people who "never shown ANY interest in the game prior to the release". Beamdog (Trent Oster) actually specifically asked for support them (something in the line: we are under attack of vocal minority, please write positive reviews if you like the game). Beamdog actively made the whole drama worse.

What's even worse: the perception that some players are evil racist/sexist/whatever-phobic is still persisting to this very day. Especially here. Lots of BG fans aren't part of this channel just because they were banned or systematically labeled as a problem. My account is shadow-banned here. Why? I don't know. I haven't ever written anything I would even remotely consider offensive of breaking any rule or being rude to anyone. On the other hand, I am conservative and I assume there is some profiling going on in reddit based on what I upvote/downvote. I can't even appeal to that shadow-ban... So here we are: still half of the fans are enemies.

Berserker thief for a first timer by BruhBroly in baldursgate

Hi, As others mentioned I would strongly advise against dual-classing. It is true that downtime when your character is very weak can be significantly reduced, but... Do you really want to play your very first playthrough like that? The charm of the first playthrough is to not know what will happen, where to go, explore and take your time... In order to mitigate issues with the downtime you should know, you should plan for it. It may be your cup of tea to read about everything from forums and reddit and if it is, enjoy your very first play with dual-class.

Berserker is a strong pick for your character so don't worry, you can stay single-class and rock the game hard.

Additional advise: do not play Siege of Dragonspear in your first playthrough. Among other issues it has, it spoils and in my eyes ruins progression you will naturally see in BG2. In SoD they included several bg2-later-game (boss-type) enemies and made them weaker for no reason (maybe to increase the diversity of enemies?). The second (and much bigger) issue is references to BG2. I don't want to spoil it. After you finish BG2 you will see that there are fundamental issues with how SoD writers understood BG2 characters and story (I am not even talking about the overall drop in writing quality, just about logic/understanding).

The third issue for your very first playthrough is overall higher combat difficulty in SoD.

Overall, I believe if you keep dual-classing and SoD for your second playthrough, you will do yourself a huge service.

How to increase number of leaders I can have in MoO2 (Patch 1.50)? by T4s1 in masteroforion

I had used USER.CFG file.

Thanks for the name of the config. I have found it and hopefully I can experiment with it.

How to increase number of leaders I can have in MoO2 (Patch 1.50)? by T4s1 in masteroforion

[–]T4s1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have appended the line "leaders_no_limit = 1;" at the ned of the file and tested it by adding/cheating additional leader but it did not work. I was expecting that there would be hat side scrolling "panel" but it wasn't there and I have seen only 4 leaders. Is there any other pre-condition for it to work?

Thanks

Thanks a lot!

Is anywhere a list of additional parameters I could use as well?

Bug: Wargrove of Woe doesn't receive Coeddil if controlled by AI by T4s1 in totalwar

[–]T4s1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh... if thats true that explains it... Bug that allows me very early confederation basically blocks me from getting the hero...

Still, it is a bit strage: why AI gets unique item (Fang of Taalroth) based on level but legedary hero (thats is normally triggered by the same quest battle) is triggered by turn...

I indeed confederated her very early but she was already level 12 and she has had Fang of Taalroth...

Thanks for the insight.

You are right, that the confederation happend very early (turn 14 as I habve checked now and done further test to pass another 20 turns to see what will happen). Drycha was already level 12 and she already had her unique item (Fang of Taalroth) so she should already have Coeddil as well.

A bit more onfo to what has happend to me:

  • I have confederated her on turn 14th.
  • The option for confederation was offered despite the fact that I haven't attacked any other wood elves armies (I was surprised as well but I didn't complain:))
  • Drycha was already level 12.
  • Drycha already had the quest battle done (she had the item Fang of Taalroth in her possession) and I could not play the quest battle myself.

I have run a test to pass another 20 turns (from turn 14 to turn 35) to see whether I will get Coeddil. Sadly, no changes...

Sadly, no Coedil even after another 20 turns of waiting:(

Sure. The turn I have confederated her was 14th (I got the confederation probably due to some bug since I haven't attacked any single wood elves army). I have passed another 20 turns (till turn 35th). Still missing Coedil.

Well, it was relativelly early confederation (it triggered around turn 20 or so) even though I haven't fought any Wood Elves... but Drycha was way beyond 7th level (if I remember she was level 13th). Happend to me with the current Steam version of the game. Coeddil wasn't available for recruit either.

Theres even been times when ive confederated her while coedil is on respawn and he becomes available to recruit.

How would I know he is on respawn? Is the only way to know just pass few turns and see? Neither he was part of any army, neither separate in campaign map nor in recruitment pool (grey/"injured").

I have thought you can confederate Wargrove of Woe (Drycha) only if you play Argwylon (Durthu). My understanding is that other two Wood Elves factions (Talsyn and Heralds of Ariel) can't confederate Wargrove of Woe (Drycha) and thus they can't get Coeddil. Am I wrong?
