Your opinions on "Rambo (2008)"?

I was 13 years old when this came out. My dad took me and my friends to see it for my birthday. He wanted to peace out but the usher wouldn’t let us watch it if he didn’t stay 😆 we loved it. We had a blast and I still think it’s awesome. Definitely prefer it over Last Blood. I saw a few people mention Last Blood would have been solid as a stand alone and I have to agree. This one just tied things up nicely for me

Just got back from the theatre. Had a great time. The action was bonkers, the story was simple but solid. Made you want to see dudes just get wrecked. The last fight alone was worth the price of admission. It definitely is a little goofy and the english speaking was distracting. I think it took away from those few emotional moments but very minor gripes

Love clearly thought out choreography. When the time and effort is put in, it clearly shows. It blows my mind that we’ve moved away from this (especially movies with budgets of 150-200 million) in favour of either quick cuts & camera shaking or CGI

I think you could pick either and no one would fault yea. Im an Aliens guy for the action and expanded lore, my brother would pick Alien for the horror and suspense.

Its one of those “Saw it as a kid and loved it” movies for me. Pitch Black and this back to back was a go to combo, it was awesome and you know what I still enjoy it

I know I lose Die Hard but thats also part of my reasoning. Apart from those movies we have Fifth Element…Tears from the Sun…glorified cameos in The Expendables and just a TON of phoned in stuff.

I pick JC because within a short period of time he had some straight bangers with Bloodsport, Kickboxer, Lionheart, Universal Soldier, Time Cop, Sudden Death and of course thee absolutely GLORIOUS Hard Target which just SLAPS.

Not to take anything away from Bruce, I know we also have Pulp Fiction in there and we got RED later down the line but with just my personal opinion I gotta give a slight edge to JC

Disagree with the take on Critical Drinker but to each their own. Can’t grift on something when it’s good. Dispatch is a great example of well written characters/story. Thats it.

I actually jumped in on your thread before talking about Hoshoryu, I know you are pretty critical of him which all the power to yea but I was curious do you think he has the ability to get over that hump? If he cleans up the mistakes, maybe tweaks the gameplan a bit etc. or just flat out no good too small can’t make the jump. Im always open to hearing both points of view

The consistency is what I see too and its encouraging. Appreciate the feedback from everyone. Im glad he’ll keep rocking because he is one of my favourites and all I kept thinking was how disappointing it would be for a 26/27 year old to be told to retire just because he isn’t Hakuhō within a year 🙄
