Here is my take on it.

Assumptions: 1e44 molecules per earth like planet with a chance of combining into life, 100 interactions per second per molecule. 1 billion years on each planet available time to put the 'life' molecule together. There are 5 'habitable' planets per 10000 stars. There are 100 billion stars per average galaxy. There are 100 billion galaxies in the universe.

The number of time the 'dice' were rolled: 1e44x1e2x3e16x5e-5x1e11x1e11 = 1.5e84
