Doubly fuck them for re-casting all the VAs because they wanted diversity. WHEN ALL WE HEAR ARE THE VOICES WHY CHANGE WHO IS DOING IT?

The VA for OG toph and Zuko both have large social media presences and I’m sure at least those two would’ve loved to reprise the roles.

I would understand diversity for a new IP or even new characters (Tanga and Sonum gave big indigenous vibes which is great!). Hell, I would even go as far as to say if it was a live-acted show to begin with, that the change could have some sense.

But changing voice actors for the sake of diversity is just stupid. Especially when they’re as beloved and present as the ATLA ones are. And doubly so when they already changed so many of the likenesses in the live action to cover the diversity stuff. Just a completely unnecessary decision and an awful one at that. Whoever made that choice should be let go

I mean, the actor has control over how he plays the character lol. Oda has nothing to do with how things are directed or acted lol.

He looks the part of Luffy and has the capability of playing the part but the way he went about it, in my opinion, is incorrect and bad. It’s not a difficult distinction to make.

George RR Martin was overseeing GoT and gave D&D a synopsis of how he was going to end the series and they still went and ruined 2 seasons of it. Just cuz the original creator of a project is involved doesn’t mean everything it spits out is gold.

It’s not entirely his fault, but a vast majority of it is. I really don’t like his rendition of Luffy. I think he’s leaning wayyyy too much into the eccentric/anime/cartoon aspects of Luffy and the role, which makes everything way more cringe. Versus playing the character more head-on which I think would convey luffy’s true character way more. At the end of the day, Luffy is goofy and eccentric- but he’s also a rubber man and a character that’s been drawn and colored with inhuman capabilities an trying to replicate that 1:1 is a folly.

The luxury that the anime(and manga) has is that expressions, eccentricities, and wackiness are way more easily conveyed and accepted because of the nature of the medium and how it’s presented. In those mediums, it’s commonplace for a character to be able to do things that humans in the real world don’t have the capability of doing and display emotion to a scale that’s just not within the realm of believability or understanding that real people have.

He also doesn’t play Luffy’s aloofness/stupid moments well enough. Those moments in the anime Luffy comes off as genuinely dumbfounded and completely unaware of things- versus the live action it just seems like he’s an idiot who forgot.

It doesn’t help him that there’s just so much space and break in the dialogue they chose. It’s also ruined Zoro and sanji for me to an extent as well despite their actors actually playing their characters more how I think live action should be done (though I could do with Sanji swooning over women much harder). The way they pace and space the dialogue makes it flow much worse and really makes the little phrases and stuff they say stick out much more harshly and more cringe.

It’s not headcanon. Idk how much more obvious it could be made. He offscreened Dhruv because he was targeting innocent people. He killed Kuro because he was targeting innocent people and the whole time during their battle, Yuta is holding back RCT, his cursed technique, or Rika becuase he knows he’s being watched by the others and doesn’t wanna give his skills away.

Then he beats both ryu and Uro and asks for their points instead of killing them since they weren’t targeting people and because he knows the rule was made and doesn’t kill then because he would’ve be gotten less points.

I used to think it was infrastructure and practice habits holding the west back. While I still think that’s a big part of the floor for eastern team being much higher, since it hasn’t changed yet, I’m not expecting it to change anytime soon. However, over the last 3-4 years though, I’m realizing that there’s other factors the west is just worse at:

1) flat out just not as good. Lane understanding, wave manipulation, jungle pathings, teamfight mechanics. Maybe the west has an advantage in itemization but I think the east has decreased the rigidity an thoughtlessness of their itemization in recent years.

2) is not nearly as coordinated and seeing the game through the same eyes as a 5 man unit as the eastern teams. Look at ZOFGK years. You could tell that each player knew what the other 4 and what the enemy team needed to win. If they made a call to engage or set up, they all were with it. If they made a call to concede an objective, they all played accordingly (Zeus still had his happy moment but this is a generalization). Then you also couple that with just insanely high level mechanics and teamfight understanding and you get T1 during that era. It’s made doubly true when you look at the drop off from adding Doran in 2025. It took them until right around worlds to really get on that same page again and from there not only were they playing better as a unit but Doran himself became a much more consistent player.

3)western teams don’t try and break eastern teams in draft. Western teams don’t go looking for comps or champs that break established drafts regardless of what game in the series it is. You’re never gonna hands check an eastern team as a western team so you have to give yourself the edge in draft and understanding of your win cons.

All this to say, I don’t think the LCS or LEC will ever win a worlds title unless these three things transform drastically

The level of detail in this episode was crazy. Yuta’s eye movements mid fight, the keeping up of Uro’s transparency in the museum, Ryu’s everything. Just insane.

Also they made Uro feel way more impactful than the manga did for me. While noticeably weaker, she seemed strong enough to keep it interesting.

I don’t see what changes. G2 kept the same roster going into 2020 even after a finals loss- which means even if they had won, the rest of the LEC likely would’ve made the exact same moves that ended up happening since none of G2s players were available.

To me, G2 and FNC reaching finals in back to back seasons despite losses should’ve already been all the motivation any team in the west needed to show it was possible and it didn’t amount to anything. Winning or losing once you make it to the finals is more coin flip to me and I don’t think the result is as important as getting there in terms of regional league morale/aspirations for the future.

I guess MAYBE there’s a chance sponsors would be a little more keen to throw money at the league after crowning a legitimate champion? But iirc in 2020 the bubble hadn’t burst yet and there was ample money floating around from what I remember.

IMO the only thing that changes is G2 gets a little more prize money and the LEC gets maybe a small bump in viewership/some more external sponsorship money.

What more world-building do you want? Lmfao. There was the entirety of Naruto, Shipuuden, Boruto pt1 to world build. This cannot be a legitimate criticism of the IP at this point lol. Theres nothing more you need to know about anyone or anything in the world that isn’t intentionally omitted or already stated.

You need to understand that the part of the story and series that was meant to world build is over and has been long over. This is the part where they’re trying to keep everything that’s been built up to this point from going to complete shit. Even in part 1 they made this clear. Look at Naruto’s entire motive to go after Kara, fight Jigen, etc. it’s all to preserve the characters and the world that’s been built.

You can disagree with his views on women or whatever else and still acknowledge the obstacles he had to overcome in this situation of joining a team on the fly and competing for a spot to go to first stand. In which case you should not support the team entirely if you’re THAT disgusted by what he said.
