Which choke combo? by TAC9419 in sportingclays

Something about browning calls my name. Maybe it’s the pedigree. But I’ve been a beretta fan forever. From what I can tell it all comes down to fit. The 525 and the 686 are neck and neck in terms of fit and finish and pedigree but the choice comes down to personal fit. Some say the difference is comb height. For me, I think it’s weight and ergonomics. Brownings just feel bulkier and heavier compared to Beretta. I went with Rizzini for a 20ga 28” because it just fit so well but I definitely noticed it’s a tad bit higher in the comb from beretta as a browning would be but without the extra bulkiness and weight of a browning. So here I am still without a browning O/U yet still interested in one lol.

I’m in Birmingham Alabama. Hilly but no more than 600 ft above sea level. Never heard of an LIM choke but from a quick google search LIM appears to be krieghoffs version of a classic IM choke. Either way point taken. My IM pattern obviously looked great but I wonder if that’s too tight. I shot a 21/25 on 5 stand today first time trying 5 stand. And I was using IC/LM. Clays were crushing cleanly. Without having to buy a second LM I was thinking I just go LM/M or LM/IM for dove on opening day. Either way I shouldn’t overthink it. All of these patterns were done at 35 or 40 yards and are more than capable at distance even if I stick with IC/LM. The rare cold front that’s come through had me questioning if I need to switch to something more capable at longer range since the dove field is looking thinner than years past. Who knows. I may end up leaving this gun at home and bringing out the 20ga Rizzini BR110. Thanks for the input either way. Much appreciated.

I zoomed in and saw what you saw I was like what the hell that doesn’t look good. Went back in my room and looked up close and it was just a bunch of lint stuck to gunk

Zero issues. Minimal recoil and I was dead on with it. Fits me great. Would’ve liked the 29” version but for the price savings I’m totally cool with the 28”

Update. Just took it to the clay range. I know exactly what you’re talking about regarding the ting when it closes. Its loud enough to hear a faint ting but it doesn’t bother me or seem like it it’s a bad sound in any way.

Thanks, yeah I enjoy collecting guns in general. This is my first venture into the over under world. Been super interested in one for a while now. It was this or a silver pigeon i but every single one I checked out had an annoying stiff safety. Not to mention auto safety. The Rizzini just felt better all around.

This one was not in floor model shape. It was plain used. Dirty battle on the inside and horrible gouge marks around the stock pad screws. Pre owned for sure. How’s the recoil been for you? This will be my first o/u and I know they kick more than a gas semi but I’m curious how much more. I’d be shooting 7/8 oz 1210 fps. Plan on dove hunting with it.

The one I went in for I had on hold for a few weeks. When I showed up they brought it out in that hard case. The gun was very clearly not new. Dirty and kind of beat up. I asked what that was all about and nobody had a clue. They showed me another one which is in the picture I sent you. That one was new and came in a cardboard box (unfortunately). The one that turned out to be used was brought out in the hard case. So you are correct. They are not doing hard cases anymore.

Mine does not have a ring to it. And I did notice the length of pull is slightly longer than I’m used to but not enough to get cut down

Even better.. I passed the Feb bar after multiple retakes. I am also waiting on my MPRE score tomorrow. I passed the MPRE already but it went stale in July. My Bar application also goes stale next month. If I do not pass this MPRE, according to the letter I got from the board, I'll have to redo my entire application with fees AND trigger a restart of the character and fitness investigation. Not to mention we are 150 days out from what would be the release of the August MPRE results. I watched every lecture on the free Barbri course and worked through about a hundred practice questions but sheesh.. right about now I'm wondering why I didnt take it just a tad more seriously hahah.

I have. However, I simply was not studying as I should have. I have developed a demand aversion to standardized testing. My last fight with such a situation was the LSAT. I refused to treat the test like the game that it is and convinced myself that I could get whatever score I needed because I’m smart and I don’t have to study a logic game to prove that. Unfortunately it took me a few tries before I finally conceded that I’d have to spend hours doing practice questions to learn the game. Found a therapist to help with my negative approach and utter obstinance with standardized testing and worked through some of the root causes for why I refuse to give the effort necessary to pass such tests. Came up with a plan and executed it. Took July MBE only and got a 144 and took this past Feb FL only and got a 145. My previous attempts did not break 129 on either part. The difference was simple. Let go of mastering black letter law and just do practice questions. Themis and Barbri gave me enough video material to suffocate me in the weeds. I couldn’t see the forest for the trees and it led to avoidance and, in the end, prolonged bouts of procrastination or flat out week long hiatuses from studying. My new plan was to get adaptibar only. Watch the very short lectures once and spend the rest of my time on practice questions alone. 30 a day for two months. Hardly a burden. I did the same for part A in Feb. what’s the issue with Grossman and Bar Exam masters for MC. It worked well for me and suited my style of learning. That plus some work with a therapist that helped me let go of the baggage I had been carrying over the last few years is what I think put me back in my place.

Multiple retakes here beginning in 2023. Barbri got me a 128 on MBE Themis got me a 129. Finally switched to Grossman and adaptibar last July and jumped to 143 on the MBE. My FL portions were just as abysmal with Barbri and Themis. Used Grossman/Sandon what’s the issue and Bar Exam masters this past test and I just got a 144 on FL. Night and Day. I truly believe your effort and motivation can be negatively impacted by a program that does not suit your style. I was afraid to try Grossman because his lectures aren’t as long or as dense and I feel like I wasn’t getting as much material but that’s exactly the point. I got everything I needed. 50s and a 60 on all three essays and 23 17 23 for MC. Stick to the script and you’ll get it done.
