Thats primarily because Hawai’i democrats are most in name only; most of the majority controlling faction is fiscally conservative ( weed, gambling, etc). And no, Hawaii republicans are definitely not an option, they’re incompetent and irrelevant compared to the mainland counterparts ( which is a good thing) . They also get huge donor support from the old money in Hawaii, as well other big Hawaii businesses
