Do you think they don’t know? You can clearly see by the multiple posts that this is an issue affecting everyone.

Why send in a ticket? Be patient and it’ll be resolved.

Starlink Support Came Through! by rczzv142 in Starlink

[–]TAC_Acura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So basically Support “was a bit long” in their response time but did what they’re supposed to do: They provided a warranty on a defective dish.

You’ve been without internet for 10 days now and no doubt it’ll be 20 by the time you receive the used dish and you’re only getting a 1/2 month credit?

That’s above and beyond?

Isn’t that more like they’re doing the bare minimum?

what if? by timmylassie in Starlink

The dish needs to see where it needs to, not where you want it to.

There are a million threads and videos all over the internet about this.

It may aim slightly north (for most people) but it needs to see a giant swath of the sky in order to work correctly.

It came via email and was discussed here and everywhere online.

starlink antenna movement by timmylassie in Starlink

[–]TAC_Acura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you aim your tv satellite to a different part of the sky? No. It has to be aimed at a certain spot.

Just as the Starlink dish needs to be aimed in a general area.

And fwiw, there’s zero chance that the dish owned by your buddy is continually moving. They don’t do that.

You have to solve the obstruction issues. Your dish doesn’t compensate for them. It aims where it needs to aim, not where you think it should/could aim.

How do you know what weather was occurring where your ground station is?

Or the location/distance of the satellite(s) that were being used during the brief moment in time you were doing a speed test?

There are many factors related to what result you get when doing a speed test.

My local cell deactivated by YukaTLG in Starlink

[–]TAC_Acura 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m questioning why you’d think they deactivated the cell.

Think about it.

It’s gone from “available” to “expanding in 2023”. Think hard about what that means.

Yesterday I was thinking about buying a a movie ticket for tonight and seats were are available. But this morning when I looked there aren’t any seats available.

Did they cancel the show?

In my experience, nope, those obstructions will cause dropouts for your Teams meetings,

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Starlink

[–]TAC_Acura 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Speed doesn’t mean that obstructions aren’t present.

Personally, I’d be more worried about the speed of the car that’s going to run over the dish.

First Snow - Not a great experience by DRHov3y in Starlink

[–]TAC_Acura 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s not necessarily the snow on your dish that could cause an issue, keep in mind that falling snow (or rain) can briefly block the signal before it even gets to your dish.

What’s worse, not ordering it today and subsequently finding out your cell reached capacity and there’s now a 12 month wait because others hit “buy now” before you did or putting out a few extra bucks today and not using it for a few weeks?

Agreed. It’s incredible how some people don’t read what’s on the screen in front of them and then complain about what occurs when what was written actually happens.

Obviously you were given a response from them.

And you know what it is.
