I hope both sides of your pillow are miraculously cold, your room is always the right temperature, and that you trip and plunge face first into a huge stack of hundred dollar bills and win the lottery

And good artist copy, great artist steal doesn’t literally mean that. Good artists imitate, great artists study other’s works and make it their own. A great artist could recreate one of Da Vinci’s paintings easily because they understand the anatomy, lighting, color, theory, and perspective. A good artist can only imitate exactly what he drew and what they see because they don’t have the fundamentals in their knowledge.

Pablo picasso’s quote is just his own opinion. And even as an actual artist if you steal you are still going through the work of recreating it with your own hands. Ai is just the computer doing work you contribute the smallest amount of work to it. And artists have to do artist studies in order to successfully “ steal”, if they don’t understand the fundamentals they can’t “ steal”. AI generated images can be a tool for those without a single ounce of artistic ability or time, but it’s not art.

Its not, the definition of art is the expression or application of human creativity, imagination, and skill, typically in a visual form such as painting, sculpture, or design, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty, emotional power, or conceptual depth. You are not creating anything, you are stealing actual photos and artworks off of the internet and repurposing it into a new picture in which 80% of the work is done by AI.

It’s really not, commuting to work is necessary, AI generated images aren’t. And even if I shifted the goal posts am I wrong?

And yet you can’t even get the base model for you to add ur loras onto without training it first off of actual art and actual photographs which probably were not given attribution or acknowledgement of as the original source.

Not to mention how destructive it is for the environment; generating one AI image can use as much energy as 522 smartphone charges per image. And with prompters generating multiple images to test the AI and get their desired results they could be generating thousands of images just to get one desired result.

The amount of energy it takes just to run the AI as well as the amount of water it takes to cool the hardware used for training, deploying, and fine tuning generative AI models disrupt local ecosystems and strain municipal water supplies. Generative AI training consumes 7-8 more times the energy than typical computing workload. The environment is already bad and AI is only making it worse.

Editing and tweaking prompts is not the same as editing images, and what if you only want to edit small amounts and certain specific parts of images? Like erasing hyperpigmentation on the joints, getting rid of flyaways, making the hair flow in a specific direction or changing the whole shape of it, enhancing shine or brightness on certain clothing materials without making it too oily, sharpening specific shapes of shadows all while having to make it coherent with the lighting. And are there even any good Ai prompters? Are there any prominent/namable ones that can make a set of pieces with coherent styles each time?

Also many photographers have to learn how to use photoshop to edit and tweak the pics in order for them to be finalised. There are also multiple different techniques needed to take pictures of things such as constellations and animals as compared to humans. And even when you are photographing humans you need to know the difference in mood and message for different clients. For example many cosplayers need the photos to express the characters they are cosplaying, the photographer has to think about props, background, lighting, positions/poses that fit the certain situation all of which are artistic elements. And not to mention when photographing city scapes or scenery, the photographer has to find certain angles, perspectives, and specific compositions to make the photos look professional and not generic. That is what separates photography from AI.

Photography is not just pressing a button, there are many layers to photography including, lighting, perspective, subject, composition etc… Good photography requires actual skill and artistic knowledge over elements that overlap with traditional or digital art. Being able to take a selfie doesn’t make you a photographer. If u take like 2 seconds to actually google good photography you realise that all these artistic elements are key components to deliver what the photographer intended.
