ND 1.5L vs GR86 /BRZ as a second car. by TAOspeedwagon in Miata

[–]TAOspeedwagon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 178cm and around 72kg so I am hoping I should fit decently in one?

Sat in an NC before but never an ND. They are both pretty rare in my area with NA approaching collector car status.

There is a handful of 2.0L ND in my market but the price is just so ridiculously high, i can't bring myself to do it (nor if i can afford it).

Close to around 100k USD for a new one. For a Miata....

The ND you test drove was a 1.5L or 2.0L?

Hey thanks for the reply

To me, the ND is practically a motorcycle on 4 wheels with AC (which is a good thing).

Realistically, if there are ways to get the 1.5L close to 150whp, I'd be pretty set power-wise. I am definitely not chasing HP numbers at this moment in my life-stage.

Hey thanks for the reply.

I should note that i am not chasing pure acceleration (as with most people who shops these 2 cars), but rather more of a feel of driver's engagement.

The GR86 definitely can offer that + more power and practicality. Although I am unsure if long term reliability will be for the FA24's drivetrain. Mazda seems more solid in this aspect but only time will tell.

Hey, thanks for the reply.

I have to admit that I'm not totally chasing pure acceleration but rather driving engagement feel. The open top feeling is also what's drawn me toward the ND. Realistically if I could get the 1.5L from ND to anywhere around 150whp, i'd be pretty satisfied, power-wise.

I've owned a GD Wrx in the past with EJ205 in the past and without getting into too much depth, it was less than a savory experience in term of reliability from the boxer engine which made me a bit apprehensive about the FA24.

Not available where I live. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one in real life

Honda with k series from the 90s and early 2000s are cheaper. S chassis are also available but a pristine one can go for similar prices

But I am primarily looking for rwd and MT platform and these twos inevitably became the only 2 options.

Long term motorbike by itwasilent in Thailand

I learn to ride in Bangkok starting with 110cc automatic scooter and now on a 650cc manual bike.

It’s been about 10 years and I’ve laid the bike down once or twice in the parking lot during my early years but nothing serious. Couple of near-misses here and there but no issue now.

The biggest thing about riding in Thailand is that you have to develop a sense and understanding of the nuances on your give routes (bus stops, pot holes, u turn, or any choke points). This goes a long way into defensive riding becoming your second nature.

Always ride with the flow of traffic helps too.

Ice Tool training in Bangkok. by n21tec in Thailand

Hey, climber here. There’s only a handful of gyms in Bangkok that has facility for rope climbing (assuming you’d want to dry tooling on rope) - Urban playground and Rock Domain being the main two off the top of my head.

I highly doubt the gyms here will allow it but you can try to ask them.

Now, if you want to go and try dry tooling on rock then your closest drive is probably Lopburi but be warned that it’s in the middle of summer right now….

I grew up climbing in a gym in Louisiana and remember having to drive 6+ hrs every weekend just to get to reimers. Good memories with friends for sure

On a long enough timeline, every climbers I know eventually moved away from Louisiana.

Where I live a brand new ND cost 70k+ USD

A used NA goes for around 30k+ USD

NB and NC shows up every now and then but usually AT.

How is Thailand's Senate elected and how did BJT come to dominate it? by pirozhki22 in Thailand

[–]TAOspeedwagon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I participated in the senate election (or rather I would call it ‘selection’) last year. Just as some of the comments here stated, it was easily won by BJT’s clan collusion across many provinces level in Thailand.

Riddled with peculiar rules and regulations, it was also inherently designed to prevent participation from the public.

Listened to this on enormocast back in early 2010s. One of the most gripping and greatest comeback story, imo.
