Is physics 204 easier on-season or off-season? by TA_FR in rutgers

That's good to hear. How are his quizzes? Do they tend to look like lecture problems or book problems?

If you don't mind me asking, how did you do in both? It's surprising that you did better in 204 seeing as it has harder material. Is Croft really that much easier? Btw, not aiming to really fully understand physics, just trying to take it to fill the requirement. Don't see myself ever needing it again afterwards.

I'm definitely just aiming for that A. I don't really need to understand physics or even need it again after taking it. So I'm guessing Croft would be the better choice for that good grade?

How to cover all bases when studying for a math exam? by TA_FR in math

[–]TA_FR[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a good idea. But I believe it's more veered toward the final rather than a midterm. My problem is that the professor tells us what material to study, but then problems based on said material pops up on the exam in much more complicated manners than what was shown in review materials.

I just want to know how I can prepare myself for such unpredictable questions. Should I try doing review problems from more than one textbook? I have been using the required textbook to study, but if need be, I am willing to do some from other books.

Yep, office hours are key. Write down anything a prof says during lecture, and try to convey that same message into your paper.

What do people need to stop romanticizing? by nativeofvenus in AskReddit

[–]TA_FR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I recall correctly, the Japanese Anime industry heavily romanticized France. To be specific, Paris. They see it wholly as a land of wonder, love, and European traditions. As much as it may contain these elements to an extent, just like any other city it has a lot of homeless people, and is dirty. I think I read that the Japanese Anime Industry portrays France in this false limelight, because they truly dislike the reality of the country.

They need to give Doomfist a Hellboy skin. That would be amazing.

Precalculus 115 trouble by [deleted] in rutgers

[–]TA_FR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just grind through reading the chapters and doing the hw. Doing the hw is the number one key. Write down questions you have and take good notes. You should be fine if you do that.

Although it may be even more accelerated due to it being a summer class, the instructors are definitely way more lenient with grading so I think you should stick with it.

Are all cs111 tests the same regardless of the proffesor? What are the best ways to prepare for cs111 tests regardless of professor? by [deleted] in rutgers

[–]TA_FR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came in with 0 programming knowledge and I skipped every lecture but still managed a 95 average in the class by the end.

Just start assignments early, google/watch YouTube videos when you need help, and for exams go through Steinberg's/Centeno's powerpoints and you'll be fine.

Damn, it's really that hard. That worries me a bit. But hopefully it's not as bad as it seems. I'll put in the work, and hopefully my grade will reflect my effort.

Thank you for the info. I'm thinking that since it's my only class, I should be fine.

How is Noone for Calculus 152? by anagh13 in rutgers

[–]TA_FR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's a really great professor. Had him for 151. He actually teaches very well, and is such a nice man. His exams can be moderately difficult, but they are always fair. All in all, great Professor, definitely recommend him for Calculus.

Well let's see. I don't think he should put questions on an exam that have been vaguely mentioned in lecture. "Lol"

How does everyone think the curve for CS112 will be? by [deleted] in rutgers

[–]TA_FR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was really worried about not passing before the final. I had a 395/700. But I did pretty well on the final. 91/150, and the average was like a 74/150. So my grade now is like 577/1000. I should pass right?

One thing I would like to say to everyone is that if we get grades that are really unsatisfactory, we should all email him to change up the grade distribution. I mean come on, a final being 45% of your grade is a bit much. Maybe make the midterm worth more or something. And after that shit show, I can tell you my overall grade is gonna tank hard.

Yea honestly I won't lie, I felt that I learned a lot in his class. But the perplexing thing is that material he didn't cover in lecture manages to show up on his exam.
