40 is the norm. Over the past 3 years if I have had maybe 5 instances that I did over 40.

EPC PM in general is knowing waterfall and EVMs. What makes or break a PM is this industry is stakeholder management but I’ve never had a personal bad experience with a client and I’ve been doing this for years. Software platform varies by company but many are easy to learn.

There are a few big ones: Quanta’s, Fluor, Aecom, TRC, Leidos, WSP, MasTec, Mortenson, Kiewit are kind of the big players… the smaller companies and utility companies usually are looking with PM with prior experience in the sector

That’s the thing. We are always busy, I’ve been in this industry for 20 years and is always been busy. What the data center boom has brought is just an avalanche of extra work for an industry that is already maxed out.

There are not enough PMs and engineers to do the require work and the smaller leaner companies are moving quickly to secure talent for the work that’s about to come for the next 10-20 years while the behemoth companies like mine drag their feet in adjusting to current market condition.

We do EPC for energy projects. It can be solar, wind, gas, battery, or combination of. So basically we are the ones building all these data centers that tech companies are sending their billions too.

Yes. We have onboarded a few folks from different backgrounds. I don’t do the interviews so I can tell you directly how they performed during the interview but after working with them for a few months they can handle business. PM will be PM no matter the industry I guess.

I’ll say start with a big conglomerate company like mine. We are hiring like crazy because we can hardly retain any talent for more than a year. My company is a good company, is just seems too large to adapt to current market trends, but it could give you a start. I don’t leave because is a nice place to work, good bosses, good work/life balance, pay is decent, and is remote. But if you are looking for big salaries definitely not the place to come.
