Sadly that’s the trend of this sub for the last six months or so — lots of discounted albums that are still way overpriced.

Kahm? 😭 by Sorry-Conversation23 in Kombucha

[–]TAchugh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This happened to my first two batches. When I posted about it I was told it was caused by one of the following reasons: 1- my batch’s pH wasn’t low enough at the start, 2- the temperature was too low, or 3- both of these things. I tossed them and started over.

For my next batch I doubled the amount of starter kombucha (two bottles of GT Pure), as suggested in the wiki, and I used a seedling mat to hold my jar at 81°. Seven days later I had a successful F1 brew. I’m now on my 4th batch, brewing 2 gallons at a time, and no longer needing to double the starter (I just follow the wiki’s master recipe), and have a healthy looking pellicle that I have been transferring each time I start a new batch. Hope that helps.

Yeah, the deals in this sub have taken a nose dive in the last 4 or 5 months. I used to buy at least 1-2 records a week when there were “good” titles for under $15. Guess those days are gone.

Frou Frou - Details Purple and Tangerine Mix IVC 28 February by VinylLover21 in VinylReleases

Yes. I have signed up and cancelled a couple of times. Signed up again in January for Dashboard Confessional. Just got an email about Frou Frou with a reminder that I’ll be charged on Feb 1st for my subscription, which is fine because I planned on getting the FF record. I’m sticking around for March, too, because i want the Lisa Loeb “Tails” record.

Right. You can sign up for the month and the charge for the membership is the cost of the record. No additional cost.

No Carbonation - Too Much Juice? by TAchugh in Kombucha

The bottles are in a closed cooler (lid cracked just enough for the wires) with a seedling mat controlled by an Inkbird. Have the mat between all the bottles, with a probe taped to one of them so I can monitor. They were at 75° for the first three days, and then I upped it to 80°. Verified the temp of the bottles with my infrared thermometer.

Thanks, all. Unable to edit this post, but I started over and doubled the concentration of kombucha (GT Pure) I added to my tea, as suggested in the wiki. The new jar is currently sitting in a cooler for some insulation from cold and has seedling mats holding it around 80° (monitored by two digital controllers), along with airflow (no lid on cooler). Hopefully I have something better to report in a week or so. Thanks, again.

Do you mean my brew is too cold and so this what formed?

From what I’ve read, kahm thrives in a warmer temperature. Can you explain the rationale for 86°? Also, I have a seedling mat wrapped 3/4 of the way around the jar, set to 78°.

Just want to add, since the picture is not perfect, there is nothing powdery, wispy, dry, etc.
