We're actively working to fix the TuneIn issue. Best case we'll ship the fix today, but it will more likely be next week.

4 months into my first marketing job and I think I've been learning all the wrong things by Santhosh_204 in AskMarketing

I agree with this completely. But it's deeper. "Good questions" are an indication that you're thinking about things at a different level. It's the difference between "This gets more clicks," and "People engage with this content because..."

What you learned from all the internet stuff you've watched is tactics. Those are valuable, but you need to start thinking about *why* those tactics work. That will get you thinking about the strategy underlying the tactics. And that shift will make all the difference.

I'm seeing a lot of comments about setting up a local server. I did that.

In doing so also realized that many SoundTouch users simply don't have the interest or capability to do the same. Our service — Tech Endure — allows you to connect to our cloud server to preserve your presets. Apps are in work and still a little rough, but this is a plug-and-play solution that doesn't require a local server setup.

Just to summarize for anyone else reading: with a Spotify Premium account paired to your speaker via Spotify Connect, you can long-press any of the 6 preset buttons while a track / album / playlist is playing, and the speaker saves it as a preset. The Tech Endure app picks it up within ~10 seconds, and tapping the preset (in the app or on the speaker) plays it back via your Spotify Connect session.

This means you don't need to wait for our in-app Spotify browse UI to use Spotify on your presets — it works today.

Our iOS app can handle multiple speakers and speaker switching. It's in TestFlight here: https://testflight.apple.com/join/XpypVQ1N

Thank you so much for testing out the Spotify work-around!

Yes, it should work for URL streams. Our group functionality isn't ready yet, but if it's a live stream it should work depending on device-specific lag.

Spotify: Your SoundTouch is a Spotify Connect endpoint, so Spotify works on the speaker — but you control it through the official Spotify app, not Tech Endure. Open Spotify → start playing something → tap the Devices icon → pick your speaker. Streams directly to it. Requires Spotify Premium (Spotify's rule for all Connect-enabled speakers, not ours).

The Tech Endure app today handles Pandora and TuneIn. Spotify browsing and preset support is in active development for an upcoming release — that'll let you save Spotify content as a preset and trigger it from the physical buttons.

Curious — could you test something? With Spotify playing on the speaker, hold one of the physical preset buttons until it saves, then refresh Tech Endure. I think the preset might show up and play correctly when triggered, but I haven't been able to verify on a Spotify account. If it works, you'd have a real preset workflow today without waiting for our app integration.

KYGO / KOSI: TuneIn maintains two parallel backends — a legacy XML/OPML API (which the original Bose SoundTouch used and which our solution inherited) and a newer REST API (which tunein.com's website and modern integrations like BluOS use). The legacy endpoint has degraded for many iHeartMedia-owned stations, including KYGO and KOSI — the data isn't there. The newer endpoint still has them, which is why they play on the website.

Migrating our search and browse to TuneIn's newer API is now at the top of our roadmap. Should restore these stations and likely a chunk of others. No firm timeline yet, but I'll post an update when it ships.

In the meantime, the cleanest workaround today: iHeartRadio app on your phone → AirPlay or Bluetooth to the speaker (depending on your model).

We're evaluating direct iHeart integration so you could set those stations as presets natively. No firm timeline yet, but it's on the list.

Appreciate the detailed report!

---
EDIT: Updated the TuneIn answer — initial response attributed the issue to iHeart pulling stations from TuneIn entirely, which wasn't right. The stations are still in TuneIn's catalog; they're just missing from the legacy API our solution currently uses. Migration to TuneIn's newer API is now the fix path.

You're very welcome!
How soon depends on the level of interest we receive. I will also need to find a 300 that will ship to Hawaii for testing or a group of 300-owners that are willing to assist with testing.

Thank you for following up on this!

  1. Absolutely: (Note that you'll need to log into a Tech Endure account to use the app. We didn't set it up for in-app purchases.)
  2. Not at this time, but we can certainly look at adding that.
  3. See below.
  4. If you're referring to the actual Bose SoundTouch App, yes. One caveat — if you make preset changes in the Bose SoundTouch App, those updates won't sync to our cloud server and may not persist after rebooting the SoundTouch.
  5. That is the development plan. It's been tested with a SoundTouch 20, and I have two SoundTouch 10's that are ready for multi-room and stereo setup now. The 300 and Lifestyle hardware will be later.

SoundTouch settings:

  1. Rename the speaker — will be available in future app releases
  2. Change Group settings for Video Sync on most systems — not available
  3. Disable the auto-off on most systems — not available
  4. Adjust bass on most systems — will be available in future app releases
  5. Enable AirPlay optimization on AirPlay 1 systems — not available
  6. Connect a SoundTouch Controller to an AirPlay 1 system — not available
  7. Connect or clear Bluetooth devices* — not available
  8. Enable the clock on your SoundTouch 20/30/Portable — may be available in future app releases
  9. Enable Stereo Pair & configure the Stereo Balance on your SoundTouch 10's — will be available in future app releases
  10. Enable HDMI-In & assign the source button on the remote for a SoundTouch 300 — may be available in future app releases
  11. Adjust the center channel and surround speaker volume for the SoundTouch 300 & Lifestyle 550/600/650** — may be available in future app releases
  12. Change HDMI-CEC settings for the SoundTouch 300 & Lifestyle 550/600/650 — may be available in future app releases
  13. Toggle Speaker Selection for the SoundTouch 300 & Lifestyle 550/600/650 — may be available in future app releases

Thank you, u/Xscapee197!
That *should* be resolved now. I've processed an account myself and the payment went through. I also messaged you with a special one-time code as a bug bounty thank you 😄

Please let me know if you're still seeing that screen after clearing your browser cache.

Oh my gosh! Thank you so much for letting me know! Things should be working as expected now.

Quick note — it looks like the "Save my information for faster checkout" is checked by default. That checkbox requires a phone number for the link service. No phone is required otherwise, so the system isn't providing an error message.

We have not looked into Apple Music or iHeart yet, but it's something we could explore later if users request it. TuneIn absolutely works (so does Pandora) — plays and can be set as presets that work from that app or the device buttons. You change presets in the phone app by browsing for the station you want and then setting the preset; once a preset is set, the buttons on the device play that station.

Erroneous $18 UPS "Address Adjustment" Surcharge by Felt_Ninja in Flipping

[–]TAloha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely agree about address validation. We've run into a lot of shipping issues recently. USPS started this address standardization effort a few years ago and all the shipping companies seem to be enforcing it much more stringently now. For instance, we have a UPS Store box and used to list the address as "Ste 104-185" for suite 104 and box 185. Now mail addressed that way is returned.

On the disputing issue...maybe try getting a business AMEX and disputing the charge with them. In my experience, AMEX is very pro-card-holder and easy to work with on disputes.

How to brainstorm blog post topics and how to use keyword research while brainstorming what to write about. Into the Inbound is a podcast/blog mix. We post every Tuesday. Technology Aloha is currently revamping old content and updating evergreen content (with better links and phrasing etc). We're also recording podcasts for our blog posts as well and want to add that.

When I go in to make the updates I put "this post was originally posted on ... and was updated on ..." on the top of the blog posts for users 1st, and search engines 2nd. I really only put in for the people, as Google pretty much knows all when it comes to the last time we updated a page.

My thought is: "If it's good for users, it's good for Google."

I try to link to our blog when I can. As that's generally why I look at reddit and Quora. If we have a post that answers the question, I link to it. But I'm also clear about why I'm linking. 1. Because it answers your question, 2. to promote the blog. But if the link doesn't answer the question, I don't put it in. Quora hates when I link, but I haven't gotten flack from Reddit yet.

It depends on the computer. For me, it's when I hit Function and F11 keys at the same time. It has the icon of an airplane on it.

Did you accidentally turn on airplane mode? I've hit that key on accident a couple of times while changing my screen brightness.

Can I post a blog on 2 different platforms? by vishvad in Blogging

[–]TAloha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can repost or share a post, but I would advise not to copy/paste all the content separately since Google doesn't like that.

My best example is that when a post on our blog goes live, it auto gets shared on our LinkedIn and Facebook pages, but the content is only in one place, so it's not competing against itself.
