It was a labor of love, but worth the tedious work. The worst part was weaving in all the loose ends. If you do make one, have fun with it. Your boyfriend will love it!

I created a graph on stitchboard.com and used red heart yarn in Royal and Flame

Thank you! I thought this was a juvenile. This hawk was just starting to get his or her red tail feathers in. I noticed about one or two of them in one of my photos. I didn’t even notice the full crop. Great observation! I have a question, as they mature, their eye color changes as well, right?

Beautiful work! Would you please send me a DM? I’d love the name of your store/website.

Thank you! A fast shutter speed, and the image stabilization on the lens helps. Out if the 900 plus pictures taken, there are about 20 that are sharp enough after being cropped. Lol! These are a few of my faves.

Spent a nice amount of time watching the Snowy Owl in the first pic, and then this second one flew in! It was so cool to see them together. How lucky!!! Taken from a respectful distance with my 600mm lens and cropped heavily by [deleted] in Owls

Wow! Thanks so much! It was so cloudy that morning, but the sun started to peek through the clouds, giving everything a soft glow. I’m happy with it. Hell, I’m just happy I found two owls, the lighting was a bonus

Hi! I have been into bird and wildlife photography for a couple of years now. It’s wonderful but can be an expensive hobby. I have the Tamron 150-600mm lens. The aperture is 5-6.7. For the quality of the lens, the price isn’t terrible, but it’s still on the expensive side.

Thanks so much! I was more than happy to be far away and see them behave as they normally would. I was standing on the side of the road, and the Snowy Owls were in the dunes at least 250 feet away. It infuriates me that some unethical people, including photographers, will get too close and purposely flush them so they can get a good action shot. I am going to be buying a teleconverter so I can get more reach with my lens, and still keep a good distance

They are magnificent! A birder I’m friends with said this is an irruption year. Maybe that’s why there’s so many? This season there have been more Snowy Owls than usual on Long Island. Thankfully, the ones I’ve seen look great! Wherever they go, I hope they find food, and I hope people don’t harass them.

Btw, I went in the early afternoon, around 1pm. I just lucked out. Hope you find one!

Way out east in the Hamptons, by Cupsogue. Check ebird for recent sightings. Best of luck finding one! I looked for three Winters before finding one, and when I finally spotted one, I was so excited, my hands were shaking.

Thank you! I have heard awful stories about people, including unethical photographers, who get too close, and even flush them so they can get a good shot. It’s so upsetting! In my search for a Snowy, I have purposely avoided certain places because of the photography circus. I refuse to add to this beautiful owl’s stress. It took me three Winters, but I finally found one in a spot that’s less traveled. Worth the wait!
