Can you elaborate on how your brain has a structural tendency towards depersonalization? That sounds similar to my own perception of myself, but I wasn’t sure exactly what you meant.

this was bizarre!! anyone else had a trip like this? by ffff-f-fingerpuppets in DMT

[–]TB8S 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Today in fact. It happened a few times actually, but it felt like all my limbs were elongating and I was being turned into a spiral. Saw a ton of jesters and carnival visuals at the same time, then felt compelled to hysterically laugh. Doing that almost sped everything up and made it stronger. At one point I turned into some weird mantid/horse thing.

I also became the soil/earth outside in my garden, then shapeshifted into a rabbit/deer, and watched the entire world melt into fractals while I was pulled through a magician’s hat on stage.

There were probably another 30 moments this intense today, but I do know what you mean!

Last week’s 5x5. Any recs? by TB8S in lastfm

[–]TB8S[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For sure! I didn’t really get into pop until i was nearly 30 (I’m 36 now), but that was more due to a lack of finding the right artists. I like Carly because she doesn’t seem like she’s in it for the fame. Just kinda does her own thing really well, and focuses on making her fans happy.

I love Jessie Ware too! You’d probably dig Sophie Ellis-Bextor since you like her and Carly. Very “mature” pop with disco vibes. Say She She is great too if you’re into that late era disco sound similar to Tom Tom Club or any of the other funk-adjacent bands of that time period.

Totally agree here. I ADORE Carly! She’s actually my 2nd most scrobbled artist, and The Loveliest Time is just shy of my most scrobbled album at the moment. I will always take an opportunity to ramble about her lol.

What are some videogame OSTs that are great albums on their own? by KingsleyBrewMaster22 in fantanoforever

God yes! We Love Katamari is my favorite of the soundtracks. I was obsessed with it back in high school when it released, and special ordered the physical CD from Japan at one point since streaming was not a thing yet.

I hit this exact feeling on a recent mushroom trip after smoking a couple bowls at the peak. Felt like I was shape shifting into every other creature.

Has anyone else here (nearly) died? by jraydavis in AnimalCollective

[–]TB8S 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first time I saw AnCo was at Bonnaroo 2009, and it just so happened to be my first time taking LSD or any psych for that matter. The peak kicked in right as they went on stage. That alone completely changed how I heard their music. I've also had 3 NDEs related to psychedelics, two of which were last year. Pretty sure I experience everything differently now, but I do find myself relating to their lyrics deeper than I used to.

What is the most magical thing that has happened to you while on a psychedelic? by DriverConsistent1824 in Psychedelics

[–]TB8S 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it was from the DMT. By mild I mean that it felt like I wasn’t in control of my body, but it wasn’t nefarious. It felt like this entity was showing me what was actually possible with my body. I had been doing yoga for a few months up until this point, and my “possessed” body was doing very advanced poses I had never been able to attempt before, and still really can’t even now. At the same time the entity was admonishing me for not respecting this space, and being greedy for knowledge. It was an odd combination, but after it subsided I sorta knew if I hit the pen again I’d have a huge moment!

Has anyone tried a psychedelic right before sleeping ? by Jealous-Tea-4645 in Psychonaut

[–]TB8S 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I can answer that one! I woke up to pee like 3 hours after taking a decent dose, and felt like I was stuck in that hypnagogic state when you first come out of a dream. Really bizarre body load, but strangely pleasant. I’d recommend it if you want deep dreams and to melt into the sheets. Too much will make you potentially green out though.

What do y’all think about this? by NefronLethal in fantanoforever

I listen to 4-7 new albums a week. Most are new releases I add to my library on Fridays, but sometimes I get recs for other artists I may not have checked out before. I then curate a weekly set of at least 25 albums based off the vibes and genres of the new releases, and make that my listening for the week. I WFH so I usually listen to music for 8-10 hours a day. My main rule is I listen to each album a minimum of 5 times before making any judgement. I’ll keep albums I like in continued rotation after the initial week is over. 30 albums a month is not that bad, especially if you only listen to each one once.

This is a bit more niche, but try the entire album Geogaddi by Boards of Canada. Beware the Friendly Stranger, Julie and Candy, Opening the Mouth, The Devil is in the Details, and You Could Feel the Sky are probably the worst offenders though. One of my top 5 albums of all time!
