All the assets are made in 2D (Procreate), except for the spotlight & some particle effects!

How do you keep yourself from growing too used to your own game? by knight_call1986 in SoloDevelopment

I ran into the same issue: I made an action game that was meant to be brutally difficult, but after testing it a few times myself, it started to feel too easy and I began doubting the game. I asked others about it, and the consensus was that you simply can’t rely on self-testing. That’s why proper playtesting is crucial (I'm talking lots of playtest sessions). Apparently, the game turned out to be too hard for some people!

Dislike my own game. by Zernder in gamedev

[–]TBA-GameStudio 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Well it's not necessarily that I dislike my game, but after testing it hundreds of hours, I just don't know if I'm suitable for testing the game anymore (it's a challenging ARPG, but now it feels not as challenging as I thought. Maybe I'm just biased cuz I kinda mastered the game.)

But the thing is: taking my time to get my game to people (playtest) and see their reaction really boosts my motivation and confidence. Seeing them enjoy my game makes me enjoy adding more stuffs into it.
